Beautiful place , with very nice staff well kept and quiet . Animal friendly and spacious park with nice walking trails and open fields for the dogs to play . There is a stream that runs next to the camp for semi private fishing and a shower/facility building . The only reasons I didn't give 5 stars is because there is no on site stores and hot water in the shower house is $0.50 for 5 minutes , very affordable but unexpected. All in all a great affordable place to camp or just get away that I'd definitely recommend.
We stayed here overnight twice in August 2019 and are hoping for a spot again in fall when the salmon are running. We are simple people and the campground suited all our needs. Electric hook ups and huge clean bathrooms with showers! The creek was a beautiful site to wake up to. Selkirk park close by, a short drive to salmon river huge sites across from the creek. Had a great relaxing time walking, sitting around the fire and looking at the stars. Tried a little fishing but no luck we love fishing but don’t catch much nice place to spend quite time together as a family with no distractions. We will be back. Hubby is calling today to see if we can get a site this weekend for a quick get away
Haven't frequented in over a year, but was always ran and owned by nice down to earth people. Family friendly, pet friendly too I believe. As long as lake Ontario isn't flooding, there's lots of room for different types of camping, whether by tent, camper, RV, or cabin. Great fishing on premises too. Great restaurant/diner close by if you don't feel like cooking as well. I'd say tell Sal I said hello and I sent you, but if you did, he'd probably give you hell..
This is the fourth year I've brought my family to upstate NY. We've always stayed at Bears Sleepy Hollow. It's unpretentious and everyone treats you like family. Even the people who aren't year round or seasonal have all been friendly. The owner is very accommodating. He tends to everyone's needs no matter how small and is a generous host. He has potlucks and gatherings on all the major holidays. He doesn't put up with any bad actors. Which keeps it family friendly. The roads are well maintained as can be seen by the pictures I've posted. The fishing is fun for all ages. My daughter caught her first fish here when she was three! The owner is continually making improvements. Such as WI-FI that works well even in the primitive tent sights. A swimmin will not g pool is coming soon they will be heated year round. Touring motorcyclist and bicycles stay for free on their journey. My kids love it here and always make new frends. An unruly animal or one that bites will not be tolerated.
The owner was very nice. Beautiful camp sites down by the stream.
I would not recommend this campgrounds to anyone with a family. Nothing for the kids to do. Rec room only has a pool table. If you are a fishermen you can do better elsewhere. Six years of broken promises, wifi always on the fritz, owner never around. Roads into the campgrounds are a mess, holes at the entrance and throughout the park. Damage to cars, trucks, and trailers waiting to happen. Bathhouse has broken toilets and showers. Washing machines don't work either. Reserve sites at your own risk
What a fantastic place!! It's so quiet and beautiful!! Management is on site. There is a fantastic creek for fishing with great fish!! A safe, comfortable place to being the kids and grandkids.
Started camping here a few weeks ago. I can best describe this place as, “Serene, peaceful.” I wasn’t expecting too much at first, but it’s all you need for a quiet get away. COVID puts a damper on some things this place has to offer, but Sal and his crew are very attentive and welcoming. The fishing is good, the campground is clean, and the people who camp there who we’ve come across are VERY friendly.
I had been in touch w/ the owner several times since initially reserving our stay over a week ago. Arrived + the co-owner?? had no knowledge of our arrival it anything else about our stay.. We had reserved a modular home for 2 nights; there was no toilet paper or shower curtain in the bathroom... And there was no key to be found for this property... After being told that it would be fixed "sometime" , that he was at his restaurant his priority- his words + that he may not get to the lick until 9PM.... We decided to pack up our things + leave... VERY dissatisfied w/ the management of the campgtound. No communication between owners!! Would not recommend + we will not be returning!!
Good place for salmon fishermen to stay overnight but the place itself is a disaster. Broken toilets, the shower needs some cleaning and you better have a good suspension. The roads are a pothole installation factory. Nothing for children to do. The gameroom has nothing except a pool table. And the wifi has constantly has trouble. Good luck if you're staying awhile. Iwner bever around. Gossip city
