Beard Papa's

The quality of the cream puffs isn't as good as it used to be at this location. Hadn't been here in a couple years but thought I'd pick up some puffs, being in the area. At around $4 each, it's not cheap. There was only 1 staff taking orders and getting orders ready, so a bit of a wait but I didn't mind. I didn't watch them bag my 4 puffs in a brown paper bag but when I opened it at home, was disappointed. 2 of them had cream spilling out of the puff took it out of the bag and put in my own bowl to avoid further wreckage. The other 2 were shaped like a mushroom cap! The bottom looked like the interior of the pastry, as if it was broken apart and stuck back together in the wrong order? I thought the filling used to be properly piped in, but it looked like the pastry was cut in pieces to fill. The pastry shell was not puffed and the odd shapes were a bit concerning. The flavour vanilla, green tea of the cream itself was fine, although runnier than what I remembered. While the service was pleasant, I wouldn't be back for the cream puffs anytime soon.

The fresh bake cream puff aroma uplift my mood. The taste is still the same. Puff is crispy and the custard filling is rich but not that sweet. The cafe is cozy and quite very good for qiluality conversation with a friend or two. Keep me warm in cold winter day. There are free street parking around the block.

Have had better ones at other Beard Papas locations. Overpriced for what they’re worth. Been a few times and there are always only 2-3 flavours.

The service is not the best but it’s ok. I don’t like the taste of the cream puffs. Maybe something they can work on to improve and they put so much cream in in the filling. Also, most of the time they are ran out of stuffs. The cream brûlée was not the best but the Paris breast is nice.

Lots of reviews saying the quality is bad and doesnt taste fresh is because they don’t throw away puff shells at the end of the day. I saw the owners tried them and discussed if they can still use them the next day or not. I believe they need to throw away all the leftovers and bake fresh daily. For any people coming here, eat at your own risk.

My husband had the Worst Americano ever, from here! He had to dump it all! I got the taro milk tea, meh! Few sips and in the drain, pearls were not fresh and the flavour itself was compromised Strawberry cream puff was the only item which was alright. They do have free wifi! Never coming back.

Beard Papa was the biggest craze in 2007/2008 when they first opened in Metro Vancouver in Aberdeen Centre. I really miss their location at the Aberdeen food court but I am happy to see they now have various locations including this one on Imperial. Their creampuffs are always so nostalgic for me. I love how they have various cream puff fillings now compared to the original location. I tried the matcha filling and it was good! Could be stronger in matcha flavour. All in all, a good spot to stop by when I am craving Japanese style cream puffs.

The service is awefull. They would not give me a mug nor the plate, not even a paper plate still using excuse for safety. So one has to eat on a paper bag. The culture of the place is very low. The eclare I ordered is full of sugar, no taste there. Last time I went.

4 juumon points ~ I had the Matcha milk tea and oolong latte! Both were really interesting and I say this because I am obsessed with Matcha. but the oolong latte was the most interesting and I’ve never heard of it before but I actually really enjoyed it!!! Matcha makes me so happy !!! I would give this cute place a try if you’re looking for something more adventurous. Thank you have a good one!!!

We order honey green tea with grass jelly here and the staff is so nice to us, she willing to add more jelly for us without having to pay the additional
