I have only been to Beal's once, when visiting family, and had put my experience behind me, until I recently brought one of the items I had brought to Beal's to my tailor in SF and saw the beautiful job they did compared to Beal's work that can only be described as tragic. I brought several items in for repair, but two stick out in my mind the most, a chambray button-up with a small hole near the cuff from being caught on something and a pair of designer denim that were wearing thin between the legs but I couldn't let go just yet. What they did was comparable to what I could have done with absolutely no experience. My jeans were made of high quality fabric and they threw on miscolored denim material that felt like sand paper and they patched them on the outside. WTF? I had to throw them away. A $300 pair of pants. I asked for the same thing to be done on another pair of pants at my tailor and you would never even know they were patched. I saw the job they did on my shirt and literally laughed because it was so ridiculous. It was multi-colored blue fabric that was just slapped on the outside of the shirt and sewn on. They piece they sewed on was fraying and everything. I swore i was being filmed for an episode of boiling point or something. I brought the shirt into my personal tailor and again, they did an amazing job and you can't even tell the shirt is patched. I spent $50 at Beal's for work I could have done myself at home. I then had to turn around and spend another $100 to have all their work undone and then my tailor redo it. Don't make the same mistake I did and avoid this place like the plague.
