I saw the billboard on highway 24 and it stuck in my mind. Got to my friends and googled, saw the pics and all the food looked yummy. We decided to give it a try. We were walking in there with pretty high expectations, which in past we have come to realize is not a good thing because then it usually falls flat on the expectation alone. Well.... THIS PLACE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! We told our waitress first thing that we were new and from that moment on we could feel that she wanted to make sure we had a great experience. She was very personable and it was apparent she enjoyed working there as she told us she was a super long time employee and she was proud of that. Honestly, there wasn't a thing that I feel they could have done better. 1. Staff... all excellent from what I watched. 2. Menu... so perfect! Large menu with a great variety of the hometown italian classics. It was a tough choice because there was so much we wanted to try. 3. Food...just out of this world! We had a lasagna which had meat, it was a good portion with lots of ooey cheese and the sauce was excellent. definitely not bland. We also had the chicken with alfredo noodles and that was very flavourful and the chicken again with lots of cheese on top. We had ceasar salad, with real dressing, not from a jar. homemade. We tried the creme brulee cheesecake and the carrot cake. All absolutely excellent. 4. Ambiance... it was like walking into the old pizza chief. The smell alone told me I was in the right place. Everything was clean and tidy and I felt like there was a good amount of privacy at the table. 5. To top it off... this may not matter to some but it just made my day after living through a painful pandemic. I was just ecstatic to see all the staff come out and happily sing their rendition of a happy birthday song to someone. It was so nice to feel that normalcy all coming back and everyone actually appreciating their singing instead of the old feel of "oh man this again". Seriously... hats off to the management and crew for creating a top notch dining experience. We will absolutely be back on a regular basis!!!
Nothing fancy at Barrel. The food is good, but not my taste. The red sauce is a little different than I am used to, but everyone has their own tastes. The service was great. The hostess and server were very nice and attentive. Making a few suggestions helped navigate the menu.
Very good place to eat big menu with lots of options. The atmosphere is friendly as well as the staff. You will leave full and wanting to go back. Parking: Good free on site parking.

I love this place. This was the first time i visited with my boyfriend and dined inside the restaurant. The decor is homey, simple, and provides a quaint, casual / business casual environment that offers everything from regular fries to more upscale dishes. Pictured below A warm Irish coffee A New Limberg craft beer light, refreshing 1st course 1. Minestrone Soup. beautifully done, lots of fresh ingredients and the soup seasoning is perfect 2. My date had mushroom soup. Creamy, flavourful, rich blend Appetizers 1. Portebello mushroom caps stuffed with cheese, they were beefy mushrooms, seasoned well, not overly salty and absolutely delicious. 2. Arinchini risotto that was deep fried into a ball, dipped in home made marinara sauce. This place really knows their sauces, and the cooks do a superb job. 2nd course 1. I had vegetarian Mediterranean Pasta with tons of soft veggies, artichokes, cooked into a beautiful sauce that amplified the veggie flavours. The pasta was cooked well, not over done or under done at all and seasonings are light, but brightened the dish. 2. my date had Seafood Creole which he really enjoyed. Great flavours, big portion size, sauce was potent and seasoned well, sea food was fresh, cooked perfectly. The wait staff were pleasant, kind, friendly and we were seated quickly. We went on Friday aftenoon around 4pm. This was a great experience and this place has become one of our most favourite places in Simcoe. 10/10
Lovely Italian restaurant surrounded in their community by many chains but they offer a more authentic experience. 1st time eating in with vaccination proof. No problem whatsoever. Dinner was quite good, I had cannelloni and quite enjoyed it.

Absolutely everything was delicious! We had the calamari, and mozzarella sticks for appetizers. The seafood creole and build your own pasta for mains. Then, the turtle cheesecake, and tiramisu for dessert. Every single plate was made fresh from scratch, the food was filled with flavour. Portions were generous. Pricing was great. Will absolutely be back!
In terms of food and service this is a solid 4 star restaurant. To start, the GF and I shared the mussels. We had 1 mussel that didn't open but other then that no complaints. For my main I had the lasagne which comes with a soup or salad; I had the soup du jour which was delightful. The lasagna was good but not exceptional and not a huge serving for your $20+ even with the accompanying side. GF had a creole seafood pasta and side salad. She suggested it was enjoyable but nothing to write home about. Would consider returning on my next visit to Simcoe.
Beautiful lunch...house salad Quite plc..clean ..very nice service here.. Egg Plant.. Pasta dish was amazing..
