My recent stay at Barge was a welcome change from the other camp where I transferred from. Though the camp has some older sections most of it is really great. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and funny. I love all the vegetarian and non vegetarian curry dishes. The manager set me up with the chef to discuss my dietary needs, I'm a diabetic and gluten free. They always have the UFC fight on the big screen TV. Some people don't like it cause you cant have alcohol there but that's fine by me and sure solves a lot of problems. I'm totally happy to stay at Barge! Hope I don't get transferred out again!

Food is fantastic if you like everything deep fried. Not much for salads or fruits. The moment I opened my room door, there was a smell. Ya, a smell. Of mold. It looks clean, but, there's mold . bring towels, they only change them once a week. Oh.. i met some people who have been there a few months. They had to take antibiotics for mold sickness. BARGE claims there is no issues there

I love the food at this camp. They go to great lengths to provide a delicious variety of options to suit everyone's tastes, such as a pasta bar - made to order, twice a week, a wok station, also made to order, twice a week, fast food every day that includes burgers and dogs and onion rings etc. Deep fried food is served everyday in the fast food, but only occasionally on the main line, and never in the wok or pasta station. Yes, the lineups are long, but the food in every station is worth the wait. Not to mention that you can eat as much as you want, and there is fresh, warm, delicious bread every day of my rotation, made in camp by one of the best bakers in Alberta! I've been in other camps that give you all you can eat pasta and rice, buffet style, but anything good on the menu is one serving only. The cooks here put a lot of love into their food. True, the rooms get cleaned only about twice a week, but that is because no one complains to the contractor. All the camps working with Suncor contractors have the same policy. I read on here that the plywood corridor is full of spit - well only ignorant people do this (it's quite sad that the lodge has to put up signs asking people not to spit in an enclosed area - what is society coming to???), and it's impossible to clean it up when it's frozen, don't you think?

Throat and lung infections are rampant here, dirty accomadations. You can see water leaking from the ceiling in rooms and hallways, windows leaking water, black mold in the showers, windows, and I can imagine in the ceiling where water is leaking. Food is below average even for camp, serving the cheapest possible food available for human consumption. I got so sick here that I was on three different types of antibiotics for throat and lung infection. As was almost everyone on my crew. The maid was witnessed by one of my colleagues cleaning he toilet with a rag, rinsing the rag, and cleaning the rest of the room, desks, and counters. Rooms “cleaned” once a hitch which usually involves a new towel and the maid flushing your toilet. Hour long wait to check is incredibly obnoxious. Camp is spread out far and wide and you have to walk for 15 minutes to get anywhere. Avoid like the plague ( which you may actually get here )

Food is good. Room is gross. Needs some upgrading. Someone needs to look into that smell. Shower curtain for Jack & Jill shared shower. Very sad.
