So my mom works here and I drop her off now and then. The staff keep the rooms nice and clean and respect privacy. Now that my mom's there, the food has been better lol bcuz she is a new cook there the location was a bit out there and muddy and rough for my little car but it is what it is.Rooms: 5/5
Good size rooms, private bathroom, clean an quiet. Towel replacement is sporadic but gets done. Clean rooms about once a week. Food is ok, not a ton of lunch selections but the quality is good and it does change up so there's always something different everyday as well as the tried and true. Over all it's pretty good.
The loge is neat overall, and the staff are friendly. But: 1. The food menu is not changed for long time, especially the take-out food. After a few weeks, I really do not know what I can take for lunch.... 2. The room is tiny. The space between bed and table is only for chair and hard to move your legs underneath table through the narrow gap between chair and table. 3. The horrible design is the installation of electric air heater underneath table, and the central-controlled A/C cannot be controlled by you exhaust on floor under chair. When you sit there, hot air is rising up between you and the table, while the other cold air is blowing up uncontrollably along the gap between you and wall....
Food is bland, half the time you grab a big plate then throw 50% of it away. Rooms are ok thermostat in my room didn't really work that well. Rooms are decently sized
The food here is better than most camps and the staff are all fantastic. The rooms are clean and each one has a private bathroom no jack and jills with all the standard camp features. However the camp is lacking in amenities and if you're working night shift, prepare for having to listen to vac trucks all day while you're trying to sleep.
Rooms were clean and tidy. Staff is real friendly. Kitchen is clean and food is decent. The gym needs work, as equipment is either not available or out of order. But other than that. Good place to stay while at work.
Food options never change. Can't even provide simple things like shredded cheese. You can't control the temperature in your room. When you request for service in your room you'll most likely be checked out before they look at it, if they even do. Lynx is the only camp that is at least on par. I think the quality is less here because it's mostly bus drivers that stay here.
Average food buffet service, with larger than average for a work camp rooms that are nicely furnished again, for a work camp. On-site convenience store with convenience pricing still saves you a drive into town and an acceptable selection. Wi-fi is okay, but you can plug a router on in your room, and at this point internet service is excellent.
So far has been the worst lodge and room I've been put in. Jack and jill bathroom. Looks like it hasnt been cleaned in ages. No new clean towels or sheets when they "cleaned" the room. Door left unlocked after they've been into the room. Food is edible but very little variety. Staff are friendly which is the only good thing.
The Big Horn Lodge was a nice place to stay while working away from home. The staff are friendly and helpful. The camp is very clean, with carpeted floors throughout the hallways and rooms. Guest are required to remove work boots before entering, so indoor shoes are recommended. I've noticed this camp is very quiet, there are no problems with excessive noise from other guest. Each room has its own seperate washroom between each room so you won't best your neighborn snoring, which was a major annoyance in other camps I've stayed in. There is free wifi throughout the camp, the speed was ok but during peak hours it can be hard to have video calls over wifi. The cable package was modest and lacking in movies channels, ppv sport programming. There is a comprehensive selection of be pay-to-watch on demand programming from Telus. The rooms are cleaned and towels changed every 4 days. No shampoo or other toiletries are provided with the exception of a miniature bar if soap so you will need to bring your own. The population of this camp is small, with other small camps in the area kind of like a small community. To me this was a huge bonus as it did not seem as hectic as larger campus which housed 4k-5k people. The cafeteria was a good size and there was always plenty of room to sit and eat, with 2 large TVs to watch. Buffet style eating, serve yourself. The food was good and they often made changes in the menu weekly tip: Wednesday is steak and baked potatoes night. The salad bar was very limited and had room for improvement. The take and go lunch selection is mediocre at best, the same thing every day with very little variety, this can boring very quickly. There is a common room with a few pool tables, poker tables, dart boards and as large TV. There was also a very small gun at the back with limited equipment and room. There is no running or jogging outdoors due to wildlife, traffic, and dirt/mud so the small gym is a little disappointing but it's certainly enough to get the job done. All in all staying here was a comfortable positive experience and I would certainly stay here again should I find myself out here for work.
