Got so giddy with excitement when I saw this place along Yonge Street. I mean, it reminded me a lot of bakeries in Asia. We got the strawberry and eclair and the green tea red bean bun. Boy oh boy did we enjoy them! Will surely stop by again for more!
We ordered the Green Apple, Lychee and 3 Tea Bubble Teas. All were delicious. My son especially enjoyed the Lychee Tea. My wife ordered a piece of sponge cake which she also enjoyed. The store was clean and nicely designed. We'd come back again.
Whenever I happen to drop nearby, I make sure to grab some bread on the way! : The bread here is a but pricier than other Asian bakeries, but nothing too expensive. The savoury breads are pretty sweet like the sausage buns and stuff, so if sweetness is something you want to steer away from when eating bread, watch out when you come here. Great to drop by quickly for a snack and a drink, I recommend if you happen to have some extra time to kill.
I love going to this bakery when I am downtown because they have a wide assortment of baked goods to choose from. Their selection is even bigger than the bakery in East Chinatown. My favourite things to buy from Bake Island are the pineapple buns and the mochi croissants. The shop is very clean and the cashier provides fast service. Conveniently located between College and Dundas subway stations.
Was super excited to order from this place since I saw they had what I love the most from Asian bakery stores: Taiwanese hot dog buns and iconic Taiwanese rectangular garlic bread. I was so disappointed to receive something that looked nothing like the picture or other people’s reviews. I had ordered a bunch of the garlic bread too since I thought I could save them for later. Super disappointed but the hot dog were good.
They were more pricey than other Chinese bakeries but you will get what you pay!!! They put a lot of filling inside and I loved the taste. The cream bun was my favorite!! I wanna try everything.
it's ok, they have a good selection, the prices are fair, it's a good ready to go self-serve bakery; nothing to get overly excited about. I have liked almost everything i have tried so far, and if u buy more than 5 or 6, it's tax-free. what bugs me is that their plastic tongues to handle food were NOT CLEAN and the cashiers.
Cash payment preferred apparently. $0.10 fee to use credit or debit. $0.50 fee for purchase under $10. Regular lychee bubble tea paid via debit and under $10 cost me close to $7 with fees...so be aware. Lady working the shop was rude and unhelpful. Kids running all over the place outside and behind the counter in the bakery so be aware of potential cleanliness and hygiene issues. Lychee milk tea with lychee bubbles was terrible. Lack of flavour and lychee tea was more like lychee syrup. Pastries look old and have been sitting out for some time so I passed on that. 2 stars for cakes as they look delicious but I haven't tried them.
An inviting and great smelling bakery that has all of their goodies protected in plexiglass compartments. Offers modern interpretations of Taiwanese and Hong Kong treats. Beautifully presented too. I tried the Taro Bread, Chocolate Waltz Bread, and the Green Tea Red Bean Bun - and none were overly sweet which was terrific.
I stumbled upon this place while walking to Bake Code. I stopped in and discovered the mochi croissant. Out of all the pastries I had in Toronto, this was by far the best pastry ever! Stop by for sure and pick up one of these bad boys! They're so good.
