Backroads Coffee & Tea

The place had a very interesting interior decor. The coffee varieties were excellent. They also had some some unique baked goods, both sweet and sandwich style. Well worth the visit. I had the Kolache Ham Egg and Cheese hot sandwich. It was quite tasty. They had some interesting seating areas inside.

Great coffee shop just off Main Street. The owners are super friendly and the food and coffee drinks are amazing!

First time visiting here and informed the cashier that as well. Tried to order a cold press with no ice, Carmel flavor and a little room for cream and it was like it through the whole place upside down. The cashier was trying to figure out what I meant and another worker came over to help and was very rude towards me when I tried to make it easier for her to understand by saying “basically I’ll take black cold press with no ice, and I’ll add my own cream”. Then looking at the screen they asked my bf if he wanted cream in his cold pressure and they did cold foam which added another 1.50 to the coffee., then they were out of the flavor I wanted anyways, and the baristas had no idea how to make either of our drinks.nOnce we got the coffee I thought it was okay, slightly bitter for it being a cold press.nNeedless to say, the place is over rated..

So good! The Funky Monkey is terrific! Love pretty much all the bakery items. The banana bread is the best anywhere. The breakfast burrito is large and delicious.

Our party of 7 was delighted by the ambiance of this coffee shop! The shop boasted beautiful baked goods & gluten free options separate from the gluten filled options, which as ceileac I appreciate. Beverages to accommodate a variety of dietary needs: sugar free, caffeine free, dairy free, etc. I'd give them 5 stars for clean, cute, delicious and kind. Even during a busy time the staff worked diligently with peace & kindness, which we don't always get in our big city coffee shops. Upon leaving I spoke with a Hayward local who was enjoying her beverage at the outside seating & she gave a raving review of this wonderful shop & the history in Hayward. This is a must try! I'll have to add it to another of my Google lists, so I visit again!
