We were craving for dessert and remembered this suggestion from our friend. Bright and spacious, this cafe offers some novel takes on traditional Chinese desserts. We ordered the Mango tapioca with jackfruit. It was less than $10 and enough to share. Their menu looks like a magazine - classy and with so many choices. When in Richmond, stop by here for a nice treat!
This Asian fusion desserts place specializes in delicious eats of drinks and dessert ranging from cakes, shave ice, waffles, soufflé pancakes, sweet cold or hot soups, fruit salads, and more. It also has a very interesting and extensive menu. One probably needs to visit more than quite a few times to try everything. But during our visit there, we had, - mango sago tapioca icy drink - Mochi skewer on soy milk custard over red bean and shave ice - Michi skewer on soy milk custard over cake - Mango sago cake with cream float - Pork floss cake with custard The sweet level of desserts are moderate. The soy cream is light and airy while the mochi are bouncy and chewy. Also, the mango ! So ripe fruity fragrant and juicy! If you love fresh made desserts, too, then you would love this place. I remember taking my kids here years ago when they had the play area. However the food they served in the past was nothing like it now. Had a great time and it was good. I can’t wait to see what they’ll do for a play area after the pandemic is over.
Cute place, cheerful staff, and the desserts are good! Went for the first time today and I’d totally return to try other things on the menu: I got the Soy Milk custard cake with mochi as well as the taro tapioca. Neither are too sweet, although the cake had a little too much cream for me, but that’s just a personal pref~ The mochi was soft and chewy > usually its a hit or miss but they made it really well:p Should def try !!
This is my first time writing a review, that shows how much I liked the desserts and the cafe! My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Azure Play Cafe. The place is clean, spacious and has a nice atmosphere. The owner Ivan is friendly and answered any questions we had about the desserts. We ordered a hot Rainbow fruit drink and a Cake with Cream Float. We really liked the flavours of the Rainbow fruit drink, a balance of fruit and tea, also it wasn’t overly sweet. The Cake with Cream Float earl grey flavour, you have to preorder this , the texture is so amazing!! It’s so soft, smooth and fluffy, the cream float brings a nice balance to the cake. This cafe can get busy because of the pre order dessert pick up, but it didn’t bother us, as we came here to relax with my husband, we didn’t mind the little wait. Overall, we were very impressed by the desserts and the whole experience. I would recommend others to come, just be a bit patient if they get busy, the desserts are worth the wait
Delicious! This place is so close to me, will deff come back to try the rest of the menu. I got the mango mochi waffles with the strawberry tapioca drink. My friend got the pork floss mochi cake and mango tapioca drink.
After we were seated, no one came to help us, we weren't sure if we are served or if we ordered at the counter. We ended up ordering at the counter, but saw the waitress went to take the order for other tables afterwards. We ordered a shaved ice, and mango cake. Any dessert place can put together a shaved ice in less than 10 minutes, and their cake is usually pre-made and just needs to be plated. It took 20+ minutes before the waitress came to our table and said the cake is sold out, 20 minutes for something that should have been told to us at the time we ordered it, so we ordered a mochi instead. I had to follow up with the waitress after 30 minutes of waiting for them to actually make the shaved ice. When the shaved ice was finally served to us, I reminded the waitress by asking if our second order is coming, she said yes. It never came, but we saw it on the bill. While we were eating we also noticed that the waitresses, who are also responsible for food prep, started cleaning tables and taking short breaks. Nothing wrong with either, except when other tables haven't even been waited or have received their food ours included. The restaurant was not busy, and it wasn't like there was a food delivery guy coming in ever 2 minutes like other places. Foodwise, for the one our of three things that we actually got from what we ordered, it was nothing special. Any other shaved ice place could make the same or better. So why should we ever come back since there's so many competitors with better service and quality within a 5min vicinity? Anwar is no, we will not come back.
I like the atmosphere! They decorated the store similar to a beach cafe. The food was quite good, although the cake with cream had a bit too much cream in the middle. However, the mochis on top of the cake were soooooo good! I couldn't get enough of it! The durian mochi that I ordered was a bit disappointing since it was basically a block of durian wrapped with whipped cream and the outer skin. It was too icy that my tooth started to hurt when I bit into it. The drink my friend ordered was very beautiful, worthy of an Instagram post. She also said that it tasted great. The food there was also not too sweet, just like how I favor it. 7.50$ for the cake, 5$ for the mochi, and 8.5$ for my friend's drink. Overall, the price is fine. I would recommend here if you're trying to get a good Instagram photo with super pretty food. Customer service: 4/5 [they didn't bring water when I first asked for it, and I had to step up twice to remind them.] Taste of food: 4/5 [the durian mochi was really the only thing that was lacking. Decoration of food: 5/5 Decoration of store: 5/5 Price: $-$$
If I’m going to compare this to other cafe’s, this is the saddest looking shaved ice we’ve tried. Their pictures online looked promising, but the presentation and taste are disappointing in person. The only thing that is good is the ambiance.
The name was confusing I thought it was a kids cafe. Haha but surprised to find unique desserts. It was slow and I wanted to try the pork floss dessert. The pricing was 2 for $11 and 4 for $20 for one flavour. I really wanted to try 2 flavours and ask to do 4 with two flavours for the $20 deal. They said they can’t. I enjoyed the mango sago cake with cream and the pork floss custard cake. The Asian soup with beans wasn’t impressive so I didn’t even take photos. So service was average but the desserts were great. We ended up eating at a park due to restrictions.
