Story

Aviva Centre, formerly Rexall Centre, is a tennis stadium in Toronto, Ontario. The 12,500-capacity Stadium Court is the largest stadium at the tennis complex. Aviva Centre is the venue for Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, a professional tournament on the ATP World Tour and WTA circuits, held annually. The Aviva Centre hosts the men's tournament in even-numbered years and the women's event in odd=numbered years, with the other gender's event held in Montreal in those years. The facility also is a year-round tennis training facility. The main stadium is occasionally used for seasonal concerts. Aviva Centre is located on the grounds of York University in North York, Toronto.DescriptionBuilt in 2004, the main venue holds 12,500 spectators. There are 11 other small courts next to the stadium. All twelve courts use the DecoTurf cushioned acrylic surface, the same surface as the US Open Grand Slam event. The stadium has 39 executive suites and two party suites.Aviva Centre is also the home of the Toronto offices of Tennis Canada and the Ontario Tennis Association. The grounds serve as the national and provincial tennis training centre year-round, offering 16 courts (eight of which are indoors). The stadium is also used for the staging of interuniversity competitions and practices and winter training. During the academic year, a discounted fee on indoor courts is offered to York students weekdays during daytime hours. Went to see a few matches of The National Bank Open 2022. It was my first time at this stadium and it was nice. It's not like The Rogers Center, so if you are expecting a somewhat state of the art facility, you aren't going to find it here, but it's nice for what it is. I especially liked all the little food tents and social areas surrounding the stadium. Security was good. Parking was kind of a nightmare, but there was plenty of it.
I was here for 2 days in a row for the National Bank Open. The stadium itself is the perfect size for this type of event. It’s fairly close to the highway with plenty of parking on the York U campus. Facilities feel adequate for the amount of people attending.
Really enjoyed this venue. We were fortunate to be invited to a private suite and the view was excellent. Food was delicious too. There didn't look to be a bad seat in the place though - no obstructed views. Easy parking and nice walk through the campus.
Saw the 2022 Nat Bank ladies' Canadian Open here. First time to Sobeys Stadium and it's a terrific facility. Lots of open space and amenities. Seats are comfortable and all sight lines are good.
Went to the National Bank Open. The stadium is great. We were in the box seats with perfect view but i think every seats are great for a good view. Parking was right next to the stadium. However the entrance was quite crowded although we all wear masks. Not sure how that part can be handled better.
Honestly there isn't a bad seat in the house. You can see the whole match no matter where you are seated. No obstructions at all but also no shade, so come prepared. The staff are always very nice and reasonable too.
Glad they were able to put on a tournament this year after having cancelled last year due to COVID. The stadium is small enough that all the seats give you a good view of the match but it was still big enough to create an atmosphere. Props to Canada for hosting a masters 1000 tournament that attracts all the top players in the world!
Free tennis this weekend! Great edamame hummus at the Mill St tent makes up for the price. Get off at Pioneer Station. Remember to look for open gates getting on Subway for free return home!
This place has a special place in my heart because I've attended convocation three times here. York University is a magical place and the way they get it ready for the event is so magical!!
Saw Serena's last game tonight. So much fun! Loved watching a legend
