Horrible Experience! The Brakes on my rental vehicle FAILED and then I got a HUGE BILL for it months later! I spent good money to rent a SUV from AVIS. While driving on the Cabot trail a front brake caliper locked up, leaving me stranded on the side of the road in a really remote area. I called emergency roadside assistance and they weren't able to bring me a vehicle until the next day! I was assured I wouldn't be charged for the replacement vehicle if I held tight through the night. A new vehicle came the next day and I didn't think much more about it. Then, 3 MONTHS LATER I got a towing bill for $1098.58 ON TOP OF THE COST OF THE RENTAL! The story doesn't end there. When calling and emailing AVIS to try to dispute the charge they told me several times they would refund the charge and never did!

The staff here is very rude, they even don't know how to talk to their customers, they will be so rude as if you wanna rent then rent or else go away, no sign of politeness, totally unprofessional behaviour, they talk to you as if you gonna take their car and run away and never return, totally intolerable behaviour, they will not give you the car you booked even if its available, and when you talk to the manager, she will say unfortunately we have to give your car to someone else who is coming in lateron as his flight is cancelled. When you go to some other company for rental next to them, before you go talk to the other company guys the staff member whom you talked to at Avis will come there following you and before you talk to the other rental company guys they will come and directly tell that I already talked to them and we don't have cars, so you also say the same. Then after they try to charge you extra fees for winter tires and stuff, and if you say that ohh if i decline those fees what are you gonna remove winter tires and give us the car then after sometime they will say ohk we won't charge you for that. They try to charge you extra unnecessarily. Its an advice not to go to them ever, instead go to Enterprise, we are a big group who rents from them at least 15-20 reservations weekly, so we all just stopped renting from them and switched to Enterprise car rental. Plz don't go ever ever to this location, instead rent from a different company other then Avis and Budget as they are the same. Avis needs to give their staff some coaching classes on how to talk to people and being professional at work.

I was very happy with the Halifax staff and service. I called them twice about changes and they were most welcoming and helpful. HOWEVER, I either was misled or I misundertood the return gasoline policy and ended up paying twice, and I am not happy that they could not make this right. I paid the prepaid amount, and [was told or] I understood that if I filled the tank almost at the end of the trip and did not use more than a small amount, i would be reimbursed the amount since it doubled the cost. It was not the case and they were UNwilling to help me. Not pleased with Avis inflexibility.
