Story

C'est en août 2005 que la Boulangerie Artisanale au Pain Gamin a vu le jour. Les deux propriétaires César Lopez et Christiane Carrier se sont lancés dans cette aventure avec le goût de développer de bons pains et produits boulangers de qualité. Ils ont donc aménagé le commerce de façon à retrouver la boulangerie d'un côté et le joli petit café-sandwicherie de l'autre. Le côté boulangerie vous offres une belle gamme de produits ainsi que le sourire des boulangers. Le café vous fait découvrir quelques-uns de leurs produits et ce, confortablement assis dans ce charmant espace. De plus, il vous est possible de découvrir des expositions d'artistes, majoritairement du Bas Saint-Laurent, puisque l'ambiance se veut propice à la créativité. Au plaisir de vous y voir!

The good: the only good thing was that the bread was lovely. The bad: they had no milk left to make latte at 1pm on a Monday. They had no orange juice. The "poached egg" was microwaved. The "fresh fruit parfait" had no fresh fruit: this one we complained about and were told the fresh fruit was in the granola. We kept eating thinking it was maybe small chunks at the bottom. No, they meant the raisins. All in all, not great and not recommended.

In the past it was our favorite spot on the drive from Halifax to Montreal but this visit was beyond bizzarre. Many items unavailable then the server said something to us that was so strange, inappropriate, and wholly unexpected that I cancelled our order and left. Was tempted to go back or write the business a letter. Felt like perhaps the business was sold or had given up or has had an unfortunate change of staff etc. May pop in again next year to see if this was just a temporary thing because in the past we found this place a feast for the senses.

We were here last year and on our first day when we discovered the bakery we had the most delicious almond croissant along with a fantastic coffee. On the second day after munching on our croissants the wonderful proprietor of the bakery sweetly announced that they made bouillabaisse soup for the first time. Now I truly was in heaven and it was as close to authentic as I have tasted in a long time. Well we are back and this year and I hope the soup and croissants are still available. Yoo hoo...
