Absolutely done with BMO forever. Made a lump sum payment to my credit line and they immedtiately reduced my credit line limit. These were funds which were necessary to access for mortgage payment. Wasted more than an hour pleading with call center agents, nothing can be done. Anything done by head office is "irreversible." Never received a written notice, phone call, or email notifying me that my access to LOC limit would change. It's appalling the criminal nature of big banks. This behaviour creates ZERO incentive to pay debts. You might as well just default. 90% of clients run max balances on their lending products simply because the cost of living is outrageous and they cannot afford to pay. The second a lump sum payment is made to catch up, they take away access to credit. Banks are failing at an astonishing rate and they do this every recession, cripple their clients financially to bail themselves out because they also have no money. It's disgusting predatory behaviour, I will never bank with BMO again. Have already moved all direct deposit to Scotia. Praying for crypto to bankrupt every big bank and board member.
BMO is a discombobulated bank. I opened an account with them over a year ago to try them out and there's been nothing but errors, misinformation, and inconveniences. Literally, everything from the tellers, app, ATMs, customer service and the bankers have been nothing but a waste of time and an inconvenience. I can recall only a few times I've received a trouble free smooth banking experience out of hundreds. The entire bank from the executives to the tellers including the system is a dumpster fire.
Huge bank with many teller counters….. Except for the fact there are no tellers. Terrible wait times. You can probably walk to the Griffintown branch and complete your transaction before St Jacques completes 2 transactions.
Montreal was the main financial center of Canada in the 1800s/1900s. Bank buildings were erected to impress. The headquarters of the Bank of Montreal, built in the nineteenth century, is a temple of neo-classical architectural excesses. If you need to visit a branch and if you're not too far away, make it this one. Well worth a detour!
Their online banking site is the worst I've ever had the displeasure of using. NOTHING works at all. Can't change your address, can't add contacts for eTransfer, can't do easy transactions without something going wrong. Worst bank in Canada.
Most magnificent retail bank branch in Montreal insideout, it's a showcase for Bank of Montreal, located at center of old Port, at famous place d'Arms, facing tourists attraction Notre-Dame basilica, this bank branch gives you history of banking in old times, there is a banking museum inside actually, it's more than 200 years old. Spacious inside, but not many tellers working, the entrance is small, and bits confusing to the entrance of office building . If you happen pass by the area, and have few minutes to spare, go inside to have a look, pretending you are a customer of BMO
I was frauded for 1200$ almost a year ago. Upon reporting the incident, nothing much was done, and it was so complicated to speak to an actual person that I ultimately gave up and accepted my loss. I have an expensive transaction plan that I’ve been trying to cancel online or with an agent. But you litterally HAVE to go to a branch to do so. As a financial advisor myself, it’s been hell to get service, let alone decent service. To this day I’m still being charged monthly for an account I don’t even use anymore. Note: You can’t close your account remotely either. Yahoo… Update: I had to take a day off from work to go close this account today. More costs. Not trusting this institution with any of my finances in the future.
Likely one of the most stingy banks out there when comparing the account bonuses and utility of their chequing and credit card promotion. Just remember not open a chequing account with them. If you close it you won't be able to open a credit card online. It will still detect you as a client even months later, and ask you to sign in with credentials that clearly don't work anymore, and CSR will just bounce you to MasterCard, lending, then personal lending while you get hung up on multiple times in between. Ultimately, you end up in a useless vicious circle that wastes your times and wastes Credit Card Genius' time. Ultimately, I'm glad I closed my accounts with them and won't be bothering with them any further. Or maybe the closed account IS still open. Who knows?
Commenting solely on the architecture, this building was an unexpected gem that we stumbled upon while visiting the Notre-Dame Basilica across the square. Well worth visiting to check out the lobby, which has been restored beautifully.
Amazing place to see. A company that exists more than 200 years. Not a joke.
