Aquarium Récifal Raging Reef - Montreal

Went there yesterday for the first time. Was very impressed with the variety, quality, and knowledge. I was served by Raja, assuming he is the owner. Was very helpful, Honest, and gave me a 20% discount on a beautiful large elegance coral. Will be definitely going back. Jimmy

They obviously know what they’re doing but my experience has been mixed. The advice I received was great but I purchased an auto top off and a piece was missing inside the open box, it was probably cannibalized for another purpose. A few days ago I wanted to get my water tested and arrived 20 mins before closing. When I asked to have my water tested, the reply I received was: « we’re closing soon » Looked at my watch and asked how long it takes to test water… « 15 to 20 mins » Look at my watch again… « We’re in the process of closing » At that point my brain wasn’t processing and I simply walked out. I probably won’t be going back. Edit: I guess this situation repeats itself often, but I did get there 20 mins before closing and if I was a little agressive, it was the disbelief that a customer would be turned away like that, without offering to perform the get the next morning.

One of the things I love most about Raging Reef is Raja. He’s the only man who has ever told me no to selling me something. Sometimes because the fish l wanted was not compatible with mine or because my aquarium was too small or l had to have a more consistent and/or better quality of water. He would never sell you an inappropriate thing for your aquarium, and he owns the place! Kudos Raja! A forever fan.

Beautiful store with a wide range of corals and exotic fish. The staff is extremely helpful and will answer any questions you have. Raja has been especially very professional and patient as it was my first saltwater tank. This is by far the best store in quebec for reef aquariums!

Atmosphere is always so kind and friendly! They’re all extremely attentive and show interest in whatever it may be that you’re looking for. I started with a freshwater tank and decided to change it into a saltwater tank. They explained to me every I needed to know. Amélie, one of the workers helped me a lot and told me what I needed since I’m a beginner. This store has reasonable price and good service.

Raja is a very knowledgeable and kind person with a large selection of frags.

Large selection of corals, and fish. Raja was kind enough to take the time to send us pictures of easier yet colourful acropora to keep in our 2 tanks. No issue with Desjardins we got.

TLDR- Raja is an outstanding business owner and a wonderful human being to deal withbwhen it comes to any of your reefing needs!!! Highly recommend! Nothing but good things to say about this business and it's owner. He updated his site specifically for my order we discussed over email, WHILE it was being worked on and updated, I've never felt more satisfied with a business than in that moment. Talk about service. Raja will go above and beyond your needs in my multiple experiences and is alway willing to add a last minute item to the order before it ships out if you have room. Warns you a couple hours in advance before he ships the order so you can track it the whole way if you so choose. Replies to emails right away and he's bilingual as well so thats always a bonus. Keep up the great work! 100% will order again and highly recommend!

Went and visited store - staff were inattentive and uninterested in helping. Overall impression was that customers were more of an annoyance, to their life. After searching a lack luster selection of corals - I settled on one. One of the sales people advised me, it was 2 heads and off I went. I drove 2hrs back home - and by the time I got coral acclimated and dipped, was already looking weak. By the next day, torch had bailed. All that was left - was a single head. I wasn't impressed, I was charged for 2. I posted a review on their FB and owners "Raja" messaged me, all upset about my honest review. No offer to replace or refund me for the dead coral...Id just bought. Few weeks later - owner then started calling out those who comment on less than stellar experiences- as "Karen & Kens". Shows the true professonalism and maturity of these shop owner. Save yourself the hassle - and money, and deal with a reef shop, that cates for its customers. Won't be dealing with this reef shop, ever again.
