Food is always great from here, very quick service and friendly staff. Went in tonight and the manager came over as it was towards the end of the night and gave us loads of free cake to take home as it would have gone in the bin otherwise. Amazing

There is a good range of food available including a reasonably priced carvery. The food is good value for money and great quality. The cakes are absolutely amazing and if you can't finish it they have take away boxes. The ice creams are also really tasty and there is even 20% off food for Blue Light Card holders! Will definitely be going back! The breakfast menu looked good too

The meal was great. Service was good, but what repeatedly let's the Applewood down is the deserts. They have a fine selection on display, but many are unavailable.

Lovely place to eat out for a family, we were met at the door by a lovely young lady who said we were free to it anywhere, she came over and wiped our table down for us straight away. Ordered food and the young lady behind the till told us how long the wait was on food ordered so the others who just wanted a carvery could go up and everyone could eat together. Food was served in good time and was hot Very friendly and polite staff, lovely family friendly pub, will certainly visit again.

Came for a family meal. Service was very quick for my sons meal and our drinks. The queue for the carvery wasn't bad when we first arrived so my husband went first while I waited with my 6 year old son. He was gone for about 20 minutes by which time my son had finished his meal. Then I went to queue for the carvery and it took 30 minutes before I was able to sit down and enjoy my food. My husband had finished his meal and my son had finished his dessert by the time I got back to the table. So much for a family meal! They servers were too preoccupied with just eat orders and the one person carving the meat had to keep fetching his own stuff from the kitchen. Food was very nice once I actually got to eat. My husband complained to the manager and we received an apology but it didn't change the fact that we all ate separately. **RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY - please make sure you get my name right when you reply to my review. Great food, with a good selection of vegetables. Beef was lovely and apparently so was the turkey. Great value for money! Cakes are big enough for 2 easy! nice relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely come again. Thank you : Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegan cake options

Absolutely fantastic staff and atmosphere. Came for a family members birthday meal and we stayed for the quiz. Mandy is very chatty, brilliant with the kids and great service. Megan behind the bar has been really helpful and sufficient. Thank you for a good night. Thanks Wayne for the quiz.

Had great service today, staff where lovely. Food and cake was delicious. Would definitely recommend coming for some food and cake.

Not eaten here for a while prior to the Monday night quiz with Wayne but decided to give it another try. So glad we did - the chef carving the meats was chatty and polite with plenty of potatoes and veg to choose from. All delicious. Seemed to be a few different Monday evening bar and serving staff working, all polite and helpful. The quiz with Wayne, as always, brilliant. Such a variety of rounds and you don’t need to be an ‘Egghead’ to take part.

Had a lovely breakfast here this morning, all freshly cooked and very tasty, we were greeted immediately and received fantastic service from Mandy! Very friendly and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed. Great experience all round, will definitely be coming here regularly. Also the cake slices are massive!
