Came here for date night in December. There is a private elevator right up to the 51st floor where the restaurant is. It has a 360 view of the city which is amazing. We got out on the patio for photos. Upon arrival, a coat check person collected our jackets and returned them when we were ready to leave. Our server Ian was very knowledgeable and helpful with selecting our meals. The service was a bit slow but I chalked that up to a busy Friday night. The cocktails were nice; I like that they offer reusable straws. The food was very flavourful and creative; the jumbo shrimp is a must-have! The portions are not large but I guess this is expected for fine dining. The Pavlova dessert was clean, different and had just the right amount of sweetness. The only con was the constant foot traffic by our table even though I specifically asked for a quiet area. Overall, it was a great experience!
Can’t beat this view here. Food was good but the service was kind of awkward. We had two servers, the second guy was wonderful but the first one almost made me want to leave. He read off each ingredient when I asked him for recommendations, he stood with his legs wide open while talking to us and would reach over us while we were eating to get stuff off our table. He kind of disrupted the experience for us. Order the Duck Gyoza and Exotic Pavlova. You can’t go wrong with those two!
Had a fantastic dining experience at AP, by Antonio Bark, er... Park. Doglicious food, pawsome views of the city from the wooftop 51st floor of the Manulife Centre. We ordered: crab croquette, duck gyoza, wagyu tartare, omakase nigiri, surf and turf maki, and exotic pavlova. We also ordered several dogtails to drink. The good: I puppreciated that the food was presented in an imaginative way. For example, the wagyu tartare was served in a rolled crispy wonton wrapper and shaped like a cigar. The crab croquette was silky smooth inside and super crispy outside. The caviar topping provided salinity, the pico de gallo freshness, and tied together with aji verde. Omakase nigiri was very fresh and the fish melted in my mouth. Duck gyoza had a duck confit and foie gras filling that wasn’t overly rich, and was topped with very crispy duck skin chips yum. The dumpling wrappers themselves could stand to be thinner, though. The exotic paw-vlova was very tropical and had multiple textures, with the crispy and marshmallowy meringue, creamy coconut tapioca pudding, mango sorbet, pawsionfruit, and pineapple chip. Standout dogtails include the Hana Spritz and Four Islands. The just-okay: Surf and turf maki had way too much avocado inside, could hardly taste the tempura shrimp. Overall: service was very attentive. There were many doggos on a Saturday night and they also had a DJ. Great vibe for a date night or get together with furiends. 5 woofs out of 5. This place is barkworthy.
While the restaurant is stunning, and has incredible views, we were surprised with how slow the food was. Considering most of the food we ordered wasn't even cooked, was surprised there was a 30 minute delay before receiving our gyoza. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable and food was tasty overall, but can definitely get a better meal for a lower price, hence the lower rating.
What an amazing culinary experience! The food was delicious, presentation was meticulous and atmosphere perfect. We ordered so many items from the menu as a group… all were delicious. Highly recommend, especially for all foodies out there.Recommended dishesCrab Croquette, Shrimp Tempura, Kimchi Gyoza, Miso Black Cod, Korean Fried Rice, Jumbo Shrimp TempuraRecommendation for vegetariansHighly recommend
I recently visited the newly opened AP Restaurant at the Manulife Centre. First of, what an incredible view!! The last time I came here was pre-pandemic, when it was The One Eighty and they’ve done an incredible job renovating and transforming this into a sophisticated and elegant venue. I’ve been looking forward to coming by as I am a huge fan of Chef Park having been to the original Park in Montreal not to mention the incredible work he’s done here in Toronto at Kasa Moto and his many collabs! Congrats! I can’t believe how busy it was for a weeknight but I guess it speaks to the interest jn this new place. They have a great selection of unique cocktails but I of course had to order my fav Paloma! They have a pretty extensive and impressive selection of wine as well! I appreciate how the menu is organized, and has smaller plates for sharing as well as unique twists on classic Japanese and Asian cuisine given the chef’s background. The food is elegantly plated with great attention to detail. I enjoyed the tuna tataki and the scallops in brown butter sauce. My wonderful dining companions shared the wagyu ‘dressed up’ as cigars, which was so unique, in addition to a classic maki dish, the lamb chops and the cod. Overall, the food was a bit salty for all of us, and for me personally, it could’ve used more heat even with my added hot sauce. The servers and staff were very helpful, although into the meal the service slowed down quite substantially with long delays. That being said, given my wonderful company it was nice to enjoy that time! I tried the chocolate brownie dessert not pictured here as I had it to go, and again, it was beautifully presented even in a to go container, although I wouldn’t say that it as an exceptional dessert. I was expecting something more unique I guess given the theme of the restaurant and menu. They do have other options including a yuzu feautured dessert, a pavlova and a berry cheesecake. Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit, if not for the beautiful view alone! Congrats on your opening!
Lovely views, cozy atmosphere, delicious food and cocktails. I had a reservation at 7:30 and was able to enjoy the daylight, sunset, and night views. Kind of felt like a hidden gem, not too busy. You have to put up a fight with the staff to get the table you want, even if most of the floor is free. It was clear to me they judge your financial abilities by your appearance and age. Unpleasant, but the waiter apologized.
Delicious food, chic but cozy ambiance, great service. We had a delicious dinner at AP, with awesome views of the city. We had been to the location many years ago when it was Panorama and 180, but those places were kind of just gimmicks for the view. AP got it right. It’s got the view, the design, and the food on point. We had a few of the cold staters, and sushi, maki and some main dishes with sides. Started with the great cocktails, Bluefifin Tuna Tataki, and Wagyu Tataki, both delicious. Continued with Duck Goyza possible the most delicious and decadent gyoza ever!. And then to some Omakase Nigiri, Surf & Turf Maki, and Canadian Lobster Temaki. For mains, the lamb, octopus and kimchi fried rice and eggplant on the side. Finally Exotic Pavlova for dessert. It was a lot of food, but all delicious! Highlights: Duck Gyzo, Lobster Temaki, Surf & Turf Maki and the Lamb! All amazing! Definitely a higher end meal so expect fine dining prices. But would definitely return for a special occasion.
I went there for NYE dinner. Mediocre food, service was okay, mandatory 20% gratuity but we had to ask for more water. The menu has a little bit of everything Japanese, Korean fusion, sushi, seafood, steak…, but nothing taste stunning. If you’re looking for Asian fusion, Lee and R&D is way better. Overall, it’s just doesn’t worth the money…
How to get here: Go into the Manulife Centre building, go to Cineplex Cinema on the 2nd floor, there will be a private elevator that will take you to AP restaurant on the 51st floor. Type of Cuisine: Peruvian/Japanese Fusion Ambience: High-Class, Luxurious, Boujie, Issavibe. Great views of the downtown core Parking Situation: Parking inside the Manulife Centre at 55 Bloor St W - 2 hour limit with Antonio Park's restaurant minimum spend required, but this won't be an issue, otherwise $10 on a weeknight past the 2 hour limit. Street parking is available if you can find it. *Keep your receipt to validate with the parking attendant. Service: Amazing service, each cocktail/food item was explained thoroughly by the wait staff. Coat check available, greeted right away when you walk in. 5/5 Drinks: Kemuri mezcal, lillet blanc, dry vermouth, green chartreuse Yoichi Old Fashioned Nikka from the Barrel, Demarara cubes, Bitters Raichi Sour Junmai Ginjo Sake, Lychee, Egg White, Bitters. Hana Spritz Asian Pear Sake, St-Germain, hibiscus, prosecco Four Islands Ketel one vodka, domaine de canton, passion fruit, ginger 5/5 Food: Park Slaw carrot, daikon, papaya, onion, mango, tomato, cucumber, coriander, roasted nuts, Japanese plum dressing Well flavored, refreshing, salty, umami, balanced. 4/5 Hokkaido Scallop Ceviche avocado, cucumber, radish, sesame, green chili & yuzu dressing Refreshing, fresh, raw, tender, salty but not too briny, citrusy, 5/5 Bluefin Tuna Tataki togarashi oil, aji verde, wild mountain puffed rice, ginger emulsion Smokey, fresh, aromatic, umami, balanced. 5/5 Kimchi Fried Rice house made kimchi, soy cured egg, sesame, scallion, yakiniku black bean sauce Tasted like kimchi fried rice, balanced, not too rich but does not feel "elevated" 3/5 Lemongrass lamb chop satay, nam prik chimichurri, peanuts, mint Star of the show, well seasoned, well cooked, balanced, tender, not too fatty or rich and no gamey flavor you get from lamb. Not your typical lamb chop. My favorite dish of the meal. 5/5 Braised & Grilled Octopus romesco, salsa de criolla, endive sun-dried cherry tomato salad Second or third favorite part of the meal, was not overcooked, seasoned perfectly, very tender, had enough "bite" or "chew" and not overdone, flavor was very balanced, no notes were overpowering each other. Miso Black Cod snow peas, charred scallion salsa verde, kombu chip 2nd favorite part of the meal, first being the lamb chop. Octopus and cod are evenly matched for 2nd favorite dish. The charred scallion and salsa verde elevated this miso cod to a higher level. 4/5 Overall 4/5 - On the pricier side, I was wowed by 2-3 dishes as mentioned; overall great atmosphere. Great "very special" date spot and not a casual dinner. Come here if you want to propose if you want them to say yes, don't come here on a first date or you might scare them away.
