We enjoy supporting local craft breweries, and eating a healthier way, which made Anything But Beer a PERFECT date night choice. We spent a Saturday evening sampling the craft drinks and tasting the food here. Michael, our server, provided EXCELLENT service. The building was beautifully restored from the 1800's. Without realizing it, we spent several hours enjoying ourselves. VERY DIFFERENT from traditional craft breweries, but definitely worth a stop.
We stopped in at Anything But Beer for brunch after the Mountain Goat Run. I loved the space and I loved that there were so many clearly labeled vegan options on the menu! I got the Chickpea Scramble, which was delicious, especially because it was served over home fries. The staff was friendly and it was a great place to spend time on a Sunday. I'll be back!
Got some take away and it was amazing. Everything is gluten free. The the fried chicken is amazing. The portabella mushroom tasted fantastic. The green curry with cauliflower rice has a great taste a flavor. Then there was the ber as we waited for our food. They all were mind blowing. Had to get a growler of the Ruby Rad plus a mixed four pack. Masks are still required until seated which I appreciate. Plus they take your temperature.
It was nice! I think the simple theme of this review is, we weren't blown away, but everything was nice. Cider we tried, not great but good. The meals we had weren't great, but easily enjoyable. It was a nice atmosphere, place appeared clean and the staff was kind. We appreciated the menu and it's efforts to be gluten free, dairy free, nut free and vegan. Although not a large menu there was something for everyone and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Anything But Beer had brought a new life to this old town watering hole. The bar and restaurant have been a downtown landmark for years and it is good to see it open again. The decor is modern and updated. They have presented the old bar, now with a fresh look. The beer - or rather anything but beer - they serve is mostly fruit based and is gluten free. Amazing to see a bar list full of gluten free options. The food menu has gluten free, nut free, dairy free and vegan options ... and represents truly a one of a kind menu in downtown Syracuse. We would strongly recommend the potatoes appetizer and diakon pasta with mushroom sauce.
Some of the best food in Syracuse, gluten or no gluten! I’m gluten free and miss being able to eat “normal” food like Mac & cheese, fries, and sandwiches. ABB knocks it out of the park. The menu is interesting, almost everything can be made vegan, and most importantly, it’s GOOD. The food has real flavor, plus it’s inventive. Blueberry preserve ketchup, portobello Reuben, crispy fried plantain “buns”... it’s high-end food and the best gluten free meal I’ve had in 10 years.
Nice change of pace brewpub in Syracuse. Some unique options on the menu like lettuce wraps, calliflower mac and some interesting other veg/gluten free options. We tried a couple flights of their beverages. I really enjoyed the majority of them - especially the whiskey apple one. It tasted lightly like whiskey but not cidery. There was one drink with cardamom that both of us really didn't care for. The environment was nice. It's clean, has character, but isn't over the top in any particular way. You'll likely notice modern touches here and there, which I personally fine appealing. It's worth noting that tonight it was quite cool in there - everytime the door opened a gush of cold air sent chills through the place. I was going to lower a star, but due to it being early on and the fact that it's extremely cold 5 degrees right now in Syracuse I think it's probably okay. I don't think that will always be an issue. I'm excited and hopeful about Anything But Beer. Give it a chance, it's not your stereotypical craft brew pub. It's nice to see a local company doing something interesting with craft alcohol. It's a cool trend that I think has awesome potential.
Delicious food and no worries about getting sick when you are gluten free. Definitely going back. Wish I could give more stars. HUGE THANKS! If I had to give a negative, the pickled carrots too tart and beans bit dry were my least liked items.
On this particular visit I had the Teriyaki Salmon with glazed carrots and coconut cauliflower rice, and shared a side of their gnocchi mac and cheese. Everything is always so good here and it's all gluten free!
The fact that they can meet almost any dietary restriction is 5 stars in my book. On top of that, they have a beautiful space, very unique drinks with some fun summer cocktails, and a new released menu with awesome choices. Everything I have tried is super flavorful and delicious. They are wonderful people. Could not recommend enough!!!
