I recently had the chance to visit the Altea facility as a guest with pickleball facilitator and workout motivator Jennifer Eyre, and it was a great and lovely experience! She showed me around the incredible gym and spa-like amenities, and I was genuinely blown away by everything the facility offers, it’s very impressive. Pickleball was super fun and I really enjoyed playing it. I also joined a reformer pilates class with Chrissie and she was absolutely fantastic. She was very informative and helped me throughout the class, making me feel comfortable and motivated to keep pushing myself. It was an awesome and fun class! I also enjoyed Starbucks and soaked in the welcoming atmosphere, such a perfect place to socialize and unwind from a good workout.nnThank you for the absolutely fantastic experience! Everything exceeded my expectations, and I’m still thinking about how enjoyable the entire visit was.
Altea Ottawa is an amazing gym — super clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need, whether it’s lifting, cardio, or group classes. The facilities are top-notch and the overall atmosphere is motivating.nnBut the real highlight for me is Emma G’s spin class. She brings so much energy and positivity that the class flies by. It’s hands down the best spin class in the city, so popular you’ve got to book early because it’s always waitlisted. Totally worth it every time!
nnAltea is a beautiful gym with excellent facilities, but the standout reason I remain a member is Rachel Hoppe, Reformer Pilates instructor. She is exceptional. Her classes are always well-prepared, flow seamlessly, and reflect a high level of professionalism and care. She’s pleasant, knowledgeable, and brings a calm, confident energy to every class. Truly a star.nnThat said, for the amount we pay, especially with a Diamond membership, it should not be this difficult to get into classes. Reformer Pilates spots are extremely limited, and even booking any class can be frustrating. The demand clearly exceeds availability, and this needs to be addressed.nnRachel is the reason I stay at Altea. If she were no longer teaching, I would seriously reconsider my membership. Altea is very lucky to have her but access to classes needs significant improvement.
First time experience this past week on a guest pass and I found Altea to be great gym with a clean, well-designed space and a huge selection of classes. Julie McCarthy’s hot yoga class was a standout. She’s a smooth, clear teacher who offers lots of options in each pose, making it easy to adjust the practice to your own level—whether you want something more gentle or more challenging. The class flows well and feels thoughtful and accessible. Would definitely recommend!
I have consistently attended Scott Laframboise’s LF3 weight and treadmill classes, with occasional Hyrox sessions, since spring 2025. His classes are engaging, energetic, and conducted with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. During the strength sessions, he provides clear, detailed guidance on proper form and technique to help prevent injuries.nIn the Hyrox treadmill sessions, which run either 60 or 90 minutes, Scott maintains composure and organization across multiple stations, guiding participants smoothly through transitions and keeping the group aligned with precise timing. His leadership style is reminiscent of a conductor directing a cohesive ensemble, ensuring a calm, supportive and professional environment.nNew members should note that Scott’s classes tend to fill quickly, a testament to their high quality. In my mind, they represent some of the best offerings available at Altea.nnI also want to emphasize that if you have been considering Fascial Stretch Therapy FST with Moh Aejaz Tailor, I highly recommend giving it a try—you will not regret it. My experience has been very positive.nMy goals included improving ankle, hip, and lower back mobility, which were limiting my squat depth. In addition, I had been dealing with chronic leg and hip pain that, in my case, was primarily muscular and tendon related.nMoh began by assessing my movement limitations and then, with me on the treatment table, guided my limbs through a structured sequence of passive stretches for both my upper and lower body. These passive stretches achieved ranges of motion that would not have been possible with self‑stretching alone. After a series of treatments, my muscular tension and discomfort decreased to a negligible level, and I was able to perform a full‑depth back squat.nI also recommend his “Full Body Conditioning” class, which provides an effective HIIT workout in an energetic class environment with a great vibe.
