Allegany Mountain Resort is a beautiful place to camp! I give it a 4 only because there's a few things that can be better! The showers come out very hard and hurt, and the security guards have double standards as far as the 5 mph speed limit! We saw them going faster than 5 miles an hour more than once the entire week we were there and the golf carts don't have a speedometer so it's very hard to gauge them! We tried our best to do about 5 mph and a few of my family members got pulled over for going about 6 mph they said about and the security guards were pretty nasty about it! I am perfectly fine and want them to Police people being "unsafe" and speeding! I have grandchildren as well, but "6 mph ?" Over by the long stretch of the lake where there are not any kids playing? They were just trying to be bullies! I just think they can do better!
UPDATE AT THE END OF THE REVIEW From the start we had issues. We were camping as guests of our daughter who is a resort member. We were originally told or rate for the week would be $10 a night. Upon arrival we were told the rate had changed to $50 a night. We almost turnd around right then, maybe we should have. Since we arrived on a Thursday the resort was already getting full. We were shown several sites and chose one that had some room, not right on top of our neighbors. I should have looked closer at the campers next to us. We were on a side hill. I had to put 4 1/2" of blocking under the wheels on one side to even approach level. When we unhitched the trailer it began to roll backwards down the hill. We had our wheel chocks in place but they were being compressed into the soft ground. Some of the firewood we had became additional chocks. To level our unit front to back I had to put the tongue of the trailer right on the ground. When set up was completed I went to the nearest bathhouse for a quick shower. This happened to be by one of the swimming pools. I was quite disappointed to find the men's showers completely out of service. My wife said only one of the women's worked. This is despite the posted pool rules of showering before going into the pool. I then went to the bathhouse on top of the hill. Shower there worked fine. Sadly the toilet, though fully functional, was not secured to the floor. Now don't think everything was bad. The mini market was stocked with the last minute essentials one would be seeking. The pools were nicely kept. Thursday thru Sunday they had many activities for young and old. The resort is huge. I'm sure there are sites available that are not sandwiched together or on a side hill. There was a heavy rain one evening that did some washout damage to the roads. The maintenance staff was out repairing them the next morning. I recommend if you choose this facility you arrive Monday thru Wednesday and bring extra blocking. UPDATE:. Since originally posting this review I was contacted by the resort management. After a nice chat I was assured that all of the issues I had were being corrected. In their defense I could have notified them of the problems that day instead of saving them for my review. It is refreshing that someone will reach out to talk over an issue rather than simply ignoring them. I look forward to going back next season and giving it another go.
Beautiful campsite, Friendly staff, Clean and well maintenanced. Many things to do, never a boring moment for kids. Happy to be a part of such a peaceful place.
Breath taking can even start to begin what this place is. I always thought resort people were rich! Nope.....well maybe some are but this place is amazing and affordable. If you camp, cabin or even travel alot this is home base. If your patient enough to listen to options and deals they can offer you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Please take an afternoon and check them out. Worth every penny! No I don't get commission lol
Bet your bottom dollar if you go in on one of the free guest passes or rewards the site you get is going to be horrible. The site we got you had to go up and down a hill to be able to cook and up to camper to have meal. Then there were even a few days you could smell sewer backup. So unless you go for a permanent site and membership I think the sites are no good .
Bad. Do not stay here! They have bed bugs and said they knew about them but still let people check in and stay in the cabin with bed bugs WITHOUT telling them! Would not refund the money and all they said was "Hope you feel better soon".Rooms: 1/5
We visited the campground heard all the membership details first sales woman to show us around was sincere and easy to talk to. Very nice she should finish the close of the sale. It’s a time share thousands dollars membership drop price at end. Perfect pressure sale The final salesman comes in. Ruined her tour by his arrogance. The final salesman should find a new career path. Asked for 24 hours to discuss with wife. Told me no mail fraud. Whatever. No thanks for driving out taking tour, tour unlike the girl who thanked us at the end. Just an unlike able person and if you read the 1/5 comments their answers are smug and never there fault. That gave me a sense of horrible and favoritism of management. Leaves where turning nice ride. If owner I wouldn’t respond back
I've been coming to this place since I was a baby back in the 80's- every single year! My father is a Member, and I recently became an associate. It's one of my favorite places in the world! Great facilities, friendly community of people, always fun things to do, so many activities, great camp sites- just overall great place to camp!
Used to go there 25 yrs ago when my brother in law was a member. So relaxing. My wife and I became members last year and love it. Friends and family are allowed. Making so many good memories. Love, love this place. Great way to spend our retirement. Grandchildren cant wait for the season to start
This 743 site resort packs quite a punch when it comes to amenities they offer. Once at the resort, all their activities are FREE to guests, which include canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, shuffleboard, basketball, putt putt, volleyball, 3 swimming pools 1 indoor, fishing ponds, and more! They have 2 laundry/shower houses that are very well kept, a nice store, a restaurant grill and regularly scheduled activities. The resort is home to several permanent residents, and the area is very well kept and have beautiful views. The RV sites themselves are pretty small compared to the average state park, and because the resort is built in the mountains, plan on having to bring enough blocks to level your rig. The average size RV here was about 30', and we luckily were able to squeeze into a beautiful side site that had a great overlook view of the campers below and part of the lake. We were also serenaded with the great band they had on Friday. I must admit, before we arrived at this resort, I concluded that I would never come to this location again. I made that judgement based on the local roads and the location farther from main towns. However, that judgement was premature, and I believe I would make the drive and brave the roads to stay here again. This time it would be longer than just 2 days. :- We would highly recommend this resort, especially to families that are looking to spend some time in an area that offers a LOT to do. Nearby Ellicotville is a tourist town as well, and offers a lot of fun shopping, gas & groceries.
