I went here for two and a half years. I had a late start in sixth grade, went the entirety of seventh, then dropped out in the beginning of eighth. I'm an adult now, nearing twenty this upcoming June. Let me state this first and foremost- if you are handicapped or disabled in any way that is not blatantly obvious outward ex: wheelchair bound, physical and/or mental retardation, epilepsy, etc. , you're SOL. I have a good handful of mental illness and learning disabilities and because I excelled in many subjects and had relatively good social skills, I was overlooked and let to slip through the cracks. I was 'tutored' in math during lunch hours and had a 'special' math class with other students, but it barely helped me and it wasn't very personal/one on one in a way beneficial to me. In a way, this school was the beginning of the end, and the beginning of a new start. From this school onward I declined, raised once I left, then declined once again when the new school I attended went out of business. Some of the staff members not just teachers but other staff can be very abrasive and unprofessional, and some even completely disregarded my known disabilities, even AFTER being reminded why I was or behaved the way I did. Long story short, if you're neurotypical, good for you. You'll be fine. If you need any special services at all but seem 'normal' enough outwardly, you'll fall through the cracks. I've been mocked by vice principal, I've had my belongings forcefully taken from me without warning by some of the front office women, I've been made immensely uncomfortable by teachers due to strange/inappropriate behavior, and was treated with very little sympathy regarding some of my phobias. I have a primary severe phobia that I would be teased about more than helped or comforted about.
I highly don’t recommend going to this school. Mostly because of the students. They bully and harass other students, thinking it’s a joke. You know what’s a joke? This school is a joke. Not only that, the rules are way too strict like the phone policy. This school has no common sense what so ever. If you are planing to go to this school, DON’T. Go to Ron Russell or Floyd Light!
Alice Ott Middle school is a pretty good school. My husband attended this school and my step son also. My youngest daughter is in this school she seems to like it. My oldest daughter just graduated 8th grade this year. Alice Ott Middle School has been a real good school through the years. Thanks Alice Ott
Really good school! I started sixth grade here and am really enjoying it so far I have NEVER met a mean teacher, and feared by the bullies. 10/10
I hate is so much people are disrespectful and as in everyone I mean students the rules are so damn strict for example they will take your phone away if you have it out when you walk in the building without even explaining why you have it out. And I mean we don't need our phones but I mean that's stupid to ME. And everyone is so damn judgemental like it doesn't matter what you have they will make fun of you its sad how badly I have this school
I wen here a year and a half, it needs some help with teaching style and office staff need to be much nicer.
I still go here though, but I'm on my way to eighth grade, I'm 14 years old and I'm still here!!!!! LOVE THIS SCHOOL
Great school this school is the best in the area and both the vice Principal and the Principal get the Vice Principal and the Principal of the year Award.
