This campground is so great now. Many upgrades make it comfortable, safe and a good base for exploring Alert Bay. Unfortunately there aren’t views of the water, but the water isn’t far away. The washrooms are great, showers work well bring loonies. Dominated by large trailers, but my tent fit in fine.
The bathrooms were very clean, I think someone came everyday to clean them and I saw people taking care of the landscaping and garbages.nnThe only negative I could think of is that the sites are very close together and some of them have no privacy. But that wasn't a problem for us because we went during the week and it wasn't busy at all.nnGreat location, close to town and right next to an ecological site with lots of trails.nnWe stayed at tent site 21 which probably had the most privacy and a TON of shade which was great for rain & sun.
Really great front country camping! Located close to town but also very quiet. Lots of nearby trails to enjoy, clean bathrooms and all the normal stuff picnic tables, fire pits, etc. Booking online was easy once we found the right link, we can’t wait to come back and explore further!
Nice site, but campsites are very close together. Bring earplugs.
Pretty basic campsites, some with piles of brush left behind, missing picnic tables. Shower/washrooms were clean although a bit worn. Friendly manager on site.nConsidering the popularity of Alert Bay, and the other attractions on the island, this is a poor showing for campers expecting a nicer stay. Perhaps the informal campsite at the north end of Cormorant Island would be a better choice.
