Albert Shoe Re-Nu

This place is horrible. I had a bad experience before and should have learned my lesson. But it is conveniently located. I took a pair of my favourite heels to get re-tipped and they demanded me pay in advance which I've never had to do before and last time it was 16.50 this time he says 22. They said it's more now because someplace in Calgary closed down blah blah blah. I could tell he was just making it up. So I paid anyways. When I came to pick them up they used black tips instead of white which is what they were. Upon saying that she called someone and laughed on the phone in another language and said to me that he said they were black but I know they weren't! Very rude I'll never go again!

This place is hands down the best place ever! I moved to Calgary 7 years ago and I still bring my stuff back to St Albert to these guys. I've had them stretch shoes, repair shoes and clothing for me. They always remember who I am and ask me about my travels that I've been on. Their customer service is above and beyond. Every. Single. Time. HIGHLY recommend them.

I went in to fix a zipper on my Yeezy 750 Boost, which are an incredibly expensive and irreplaceable shoe. I was told it would cost 60, so I left to get money from my car and I was told that it would cost 90. So I decided to get it fixed, and I thought he did a good job, until I looked closer. He tore apart the shoe and restitched it without telling me, and now the way it's sewn back together makes it look fake. I can't sell the shoes now so I'm stuck with a destroyed pair of sneakers that are worth about $20 now. Terrible service, and had a very egotistical personality. When I called to see if I could get it fixed I was told "Sorry you took that chance, maybe you should try instead" absolutely pathetic people. DONT GO HERE

Brought in an Ariat riding boot to have the zipper replaced. Quoted me 65.00 which I thought was a bit high. Was very insistent that they were nice boots and how expensive they were. Uh, thanks, I know, I bought them with my very own money. Anyway, decided to have the zipper done. Came back with a cheap black zipper without the Ariat name that in NO WAY matches the other boot, which I did not have repaired. So no I have a pair of very nice boots with mismatched zipper hardware. Last time I had them repaired, it took two weeks because they ordered the appropriate Ariat hardware. The owner was actually very dismissive of the previous work that was done. Funny enough, it was a friend of the family who has been in ‘the family business’ for 45 years. Only reason I did not take them there is we just moved back to Alberta after being out of the country for several years. Old cobbler, out of country. Probably would have been cheaper to mail the boot to him for the repair. Lesson learned, please learn from mine!

I took a pair of cowboy boots into this store over a month ago. My new puppy had chewed on the toe, he didn't damage the sole but the leather had some teeth marks. Their solution was to just put a leather cap on both boots, we were promised the leather would match and that they would call when they're done. After not receiving a call, we went in today to pick them up. They've absolutely destroyed a $300 pair of boots! They used a leather that wasn't even close to a colour match, couldn't even make straight cuts and the glue wasn't holding. When I went back in to get them to fix it, I was told that they could glue down the edges and that was it. I was lectured on how hard it is to cut a straight line and told to stain the leather on my boots (dark brown) to match the cap (honey brown). I've never received such horrible service in my life. Besides the obvious lack of craftsmanship, he interrupted me to take a personal phone call and continued eating while trying to dismiss me. In the end I was told I was out of luck and that if I found a leather that matched better, I could buy it, bring it to them and have them charge me to put it on. I will never do business with these men again and advise against anyone else doing so. I paid $150 to have my boots look worse than when I took them in.
