"As a native of Germany, the one thing that I have really missed since I've lived here is good bread. So, I picked up an old hobby of mine and decided to take it to a higher level."

Everything at Aki's is delicious. We didn't arrive until noon, so lots of items were out, but that's our fault for poor planning! I tried an everything pretzel, which was delicious. We also had a raspberry streusel and pretzel sticks. In the past, I've also had the cinnamon twists and Nutella pockets. Literally everything is delicious. The staff is incredible and kind!
My daughter and I got a haul of baked goods yesterday to try. The lemon poppyseed streusel is like a piece of heaven. Don’t eat this thing if you want to fit into your favorite pair of jeans, because you will likely eat the whole thing. It’s absolutely to die for. Our other favorites: cinnamon sticks, everything pretzel and the prosciutto Parmesan croissant absolutely amazing!. That croissant was everything; buttery, flaky and perfect. The gluten-free hazelnut cookie was surpringly awesome! They also have great coffee to go with your sweets. The staff there are super friendly and helpful too. Thanks, Aki’s, for being a bright light in our neighborhood. We’ll be back. Every day. Forever.
Akis ist wieder geöffnet! Aki's is open again! Get there early to ensure best selection. All of the usual items that people loved are back Bauernbrot, White Sourdough, Pan Breads, Crazy Raisin Bread, Bacon/Cheese/Chive rolls, caramel pecan rolls, pretzels, etc. Once things are gone for the day, they're gone, so plan ahead! Please support this local business! Probably the closest thing to authentic German bread, that one can find in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's THAT good.
Aki's was great! I've been meaning to make it here for quite some time now, and I'm so thankful now that I finally have! The fresh pretzels are so good, as well as any of their pastries. I had an apple filled roll can't quite remember what it's called , and by golly it was amazing. If you want to experience some good authentic German carby-ness, then there's no other place to stop besides Aki's!
I can’t believe it took me this long to discover this gem! After coming home from living abroad I was never able to find a place that brought back the smells and tastes of my “Heimat in der Fremde”. I’m looking forward to going back again soon!
AMAZING! If you’re looking for some delightful treats go support this lovely local bakery! Everything is delicious, our family goes here almost every week for their delicious pretzels!!!
Best German bread so far in this country! The farmers bread has the crunchy crust and most of the bold flavor that I grew up with. I drive all the way from St. Paul just to get my bread.
This is one of the best bakeries. The pastries are delicious. They are always fresh and top quality. I highly recommend the pretzels and the cinnamon sticks. I also buy their loaves of bread and cinnamon roll. Their cookies are also not to be forgotten, the chocolate chip has the best taste & consistency in the metro! The staff is friendly and pleasant and recognize their regular customers and are very kind to us! Kid - friendly as well. The decor is simple and pleasing to the eye. It's bright and spacious. It's a bright spot in my week.
The smell of deliciousness draws you in as fresh baked bread and pastries are made each morning. The food is so good, there’s always a line of people patiently waiting for the goodness.
As close to a German small town bakery as you can get. Exceptional breads, Broetchen, pretzels and more. I will return often.
