Our experience at Ajito exceeded greatly our expectations! The menu is extensive, and yet every meal is unique, carefully designed food, with fantastic flavours and adventurous combinations! What a feast for our senses. The atmosphere is simple, a bit secretive, and plain, which serves as a perfect canvas in which the wonderful creations from the kitchen claim centre stage A note about the service…I didn’t know it could be that good! They are kind, amicable, and yet quite professional and serious about the precious plates brought to the table To those that miss the point with lukewarm reviews, I would suggest to try it again, perhaps with a more open mind and a decisive laid back attitude To the staff, thank you again for an unforgettable experience
We came here as a group of 9 for a friends birthday and had booked ahead. We had a Greta evening here enjoying the lovely food. Every dish we ordered and drink was well enjoyed. Each person ordered 2-3 items from the menu to eat. It was a little bit loud within the restaurant but I'd consider that normal. One of the dishes I ordered was the Japanese calamari. Be aware that it's not quite the same as other calamris from a typical restaurant. It's less deep fried and more of the octopus. I find this kind of octupus a bit chewy and not as enjoyable so just be aware of that. I also had the deep friend chicken. The sauce and special seasoning that came with it was quite good and I enjoyed this dish. Overall if you came here and shared many of the dishes with your group that would work quite well.
Great meal with great service. Service was very friendly and at a good pace. The food was very good as well. Enough menu options for those who don’t like seafood. Lots of dishes come smoked which adds so much fun to the dish it comes covered in a dish with smoke under it for a dramatic effect. Also not pictured is the corn kale tempura, this was my favourite
Very unique dishes to try out. Came out for a friends birthday. Dishes were quite tasty. Prices are okay, kind of pricey for what you get. It’s a nice little restaurant to sit in, not a lot of tables.
I’m a big fan of this place! At first I was nervous it was only hyped on the gram, but the food lived up to my expectations! I highly suggest the tuna dish especially if you like a little smokey flavour. The only downfall was the wait time to get in and the service was a little slow. Other than that j great experience, I highly suggest grabbing some friends and sharing dishes here.
Pretty cool place. Interesting menu. The sirloin on the stone plate was nice. Enjoyed that. The beef curry was really good, recommend that, decent price too. Was disappointed with the hells chicken. It had been cooked but then drowned in cold hot sauce after being cooked, so the meal was cold. Not sure why they do it this way but it just wasn’t as enjoyable.
Been wanting to try this place for awhile and wasn't totally impressed. Cocktails were not good, the smoke presentation just kind of ruined the flavors even for some dishes. Cool aesthetics and all but kinda unnecessary and almost. Anticancer because of the smell. Menu was small and limited but everything we ordered was pretty good. Was hoping for some real entres but they didn't have them. Overall it's a cool experience but I wouldn't go back due to pricing and limited menu options.
Went here for my birthday. I booked a reservation as it was the day before Valentine's just in case. The hostess at Sho asked right away if we had a reservation when we mentioned we were going to ajito. Maybe this implies it's reservation preferred? Not too many tables maybe around 7-8 if I remember correctly. The place was really nice. The food was fancy, but not too pricey considering how fancy it was. I went in a group of 3 and we all shared food. After tip it was about $40 each. Definitely going back!
My wife brought me here as a surprise. Thinking it was the main entrance restaurant but when you got to the back you saw the secret Coca-Cola door. Very cool vibe and setting inside. Food was all very tasty and unique. Prices are a bit pricey but worth it to me.
We came here for a birthday celebration and it is a cleverly done space where you go through the "vending machine door" to a well spaced out dining area with a bar. The lights are actually alternating yellow and green hues inside large, empty liquor bottles. We had the corn & kale kakiage, scallop carpaccio, takoyaki poutine, clam mushroom udon, baked mussels, and yakitori rice bowl. Overall, the flavors were excellent and unique that you would not really find in other places. In particular, the kakiage was very well done - fried to a nice golden crisp with plenty of veggies and not dough. The mussels were soft and tender, packed with flavor. As were the clams with udon cooked to al dente. The scallop carpaccio was most interesting because of the home made seaweed sauce on the side that you got to dip - extremely tasty! The poutine was perhaps the more ordinary item as it was a little bit of squid and cheese curds with takoyaki sauce poured onto the fries. The big miss was the yakitori bowl as it seems that this item was forgotten all the other food came out around the same time. Maybe it was that they were near closing at the end of a long day but our server who was friendly and responsive forgot to tell us that they ran out of the quail egg that goes with the dish. Based on the picture, it also looks like they forgot to add the green onion or the crispy chicken skin too so we basically got sauce on rice with two skewers that didn't seem to be grilled too well. It was a reasonable amount of food for 2 people to this point that we would have been okay to not get this last dish, especially when it amounted to half the dish anyway. Unfortunately, it made the quality of the dish far from the rest of the meal. I am still looking forward to trying Ajito again! The pricing was reasonable and the food was excellent. I will just be weary of ordering their rice dishes in the future.
