Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park

Loved the lake but the bathrooms could be cleaner, our spot flooded in the rain, and the mosquitos are insatiable. Some spots are spacious and lovely, some are tiny and have zero privacy. Easiest check-in and very friendly staff. Some folks looked like vagabonds who were riding around the park. We took locks for our tents and glad we did! We recommend this campground highly and it is super close to many places to eat and shop for food. Restrooms: Not super clean! Could use updates like most campgrounds. Picnic area: Stellar picnic and volleyball area near the beach.

I know this park, beach and area for 24 years and love it I am from Chicago but never mind the drive to here under hour They are building small snacks,food, stuff store next to parking a lot at camping area close to beach, it should be done and open this year 2022 that’s nice and helpful to community. Love the lake shore around, beach,clear water. Big rocks in water: I recommend it to everyone. Family, friends. No littering please:

Quiet, calm, we were the only ones on the beach on a weekday morning. There were other folks walking the trails. The beach is just a short walk from the parking lot. This beach was very clean with no litter. A very nice gem to visit if you are in the area.

The beach is nice, and the views for sunset/sunrise are quite spectacular. But the spaces are a little bit under-cared, the trail for walking along the beach is not in good shape, and the place has a weird felling of not being properly maintained, I do not know if this is for Covid situation right now But you can have a really good time here if you go with friends or with family

The best beach around! Pros: - large coastline don't have to be right next to other people - water is nice to swim in, although a bit chilly - trees along parts of the beach can provide some shade - see wildlife we've seen deer, different types of water birds, a turtle - when it's no too hazy, you can see the Chicago skyline - lots of parking spaces - don't have to pay to go Cons: - sometimes there's a lot of flying, biting bugs, mostly when it's not very windynot complaining, just as a heads up to take some bug spray or something with you Haven't found any beach comparable! Check it out!

Perfect beach for rock art! All different types of Stones & sea glass. Lots of room, never really packed even on holidays. Would advise wearing water shoes in lake.

A nice day trip from the city for some much needed fresh air. We went primarily for the hiking trails in the southern portion of the park and had a mixed experience. The yellow trail is exposed to the elements but provides lovely views of the lake and access to the beach. The red trail which goes along the Dead River is not well maintained and the southern portion of it should have been closed as it was not clearly marked and nearly caused us to get stuck in mud. Overall worth the trip if you are within a 30 minute drive and recommend sticking to the beach.

Beautiful beach in Illinois! I’ve found this is one of the only free beaches you can go to in Illinois north of Chicago and along Lake Michigan. Lots of nice hiking areas here and areas to sit and enjoy the beach. Highly recommend coming here as it is so beautiful!

Very clean. Nice beaches close to camping spots. Quiet after 9pm. Would recommend for families with kids.

This is a beautiful beach. It’s very clean. There are areas where you can swim but I prefer the rocky area to visit
