Active Green+Ross Tire & Automotive Centre

I have had my Cherokee and Accord serviced here for years. From new tires, alignments, suspension, Safety Checks, etc... these folks know their stuff and always do what's best for the customer. They only suggest the corrective (and give insights into preventative) services that are actually required and always have cost savings in mind. Thanks for the excellent mechanical support, keep up the outstanding work folks!

Very efficient service. Helped me when I had a tire with multiple nails in it. Truthful staff. Reasonable prices. Easy to find off two HWY exits if you're in a pinch and need help. Limited parking. Wheelchair accessible.

I've used a few automotive shops in Barrie in the past few years, yet have never felt compelled to leave a review until today. I had a recent issue with my truck and after getting several quotes I decided to use Active Green and Ross on Anne. I dropped my truck off and to my surprised the owner pulled me aside with a suggestion to save me money and ultimately solve the issue at hand. I felt this service was above and beyond and would recommend them to anyone looking for automotive needs in the Barrie and Area.

Wrong oil given: My car was given conventional oil during my first service appointment there instead of the needed sythentic oil. I only found out today during my second appointment that it was incorrect the first time around. I was not given any explanation, apology or offerings to make up for it, but was simply told "the guy who did it no longer works here." I will not be going back.

In September of 2016, I visited the Active Green + Ross location in Barrie. I was charged for a replacement timing belt kit, water pump, alternator & power steering belt among other things. The timing belt for my car (a 2008 Subaru Impreza) is supposed to last 168k. The odometer on this visit was recorded by the staff as 181,322 kilometres. I brought my car in to a mechanic near work last week for an antifreeze leak. When they started working, they noticed that my timing belt was basically shredded and provided a photo as proof. My odometer is currently sitting at 231,973k, meaning that I got less than 60,000 kilometers from the new kit installed by AG+R last year. I am not sure how the kit installed could possibly have been new if the wear and tear on it is this bad after less than 60,000 kilometres of driving. I made this complaint in writing to the location last week and didn't hear back with an explanation or assistance of any kind. I will not be returning to this location or to any Active Green + Ross and wouldn't recommend it to others.
