The best meal I have had in several years. Tried to book a reservation but they had none available but decided to walk in to see if we could get a table. After a short wait we were seated at the bar. The staff was extremely professional, knew the menu, and knew their drinks. They were also collaborative and kept things running smoothly between hand offs. The food was incredible. We ordered the bread flight and the French onion soup. Many places either over salt the broth or caramelize the onions into sweet gooeyness. Not 1889. Perfect flavor balance with a crunch still left on the crouton. I got the filet which was melt in your mouth tender. She got the shrimp and grits which were amazing. Delicious crisp shrimp and just a little heat to the sauce. Great vibe, great meal.
1889 provides a fantastic Missoula fine dining experience that is wonderful for everyone. The atmosphere is upscale and romantic yet comfortable and family-friendly. The staff is amazingly friendly and professional. The food is amazing and delicious. I would recommend stopping by 1889 for your next dinner occasion!Food: 5/5
A highlight of our recent trip to Montana. Our reservation was handled with flexibility and professionalism though they were very busy. We spent time in the bar waiting for the others in our party to arrive and had some of the best cocktails I've had in a while, their house cocktails are amazing and the bartenders knowledgeable and enthusiastic, even tweaked one using an amaro I wanted to try from a local distiller. For our dinner we shared the Tomahawk steak, with sides of scallops and shrimp and it was outstanding; the meat was cooked perfectly, still thinking about it. Exactly the meal I was hoping to have while in Montana! Highly recommend.
This was an excellent experience, with a couple of bumps, but certainly recommend. Service: 5 stars Food: 3.5 stars Cleanliness: 5 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars Reservations on a Thursday for 5:30. Anniversary. Greeted warmly and seated promptly. Wish I could remember our servers name, but she was great! Ordered Martini's to be paired w clam appetizers. Both were fantastic! In fact, the clams were the best food item of the evening. 5 stars. A must! A couple needed a little more cleaning sand, but no biggie. Expected. Main: Lamb my beautiful wife ordered paired with Temperanillo. I ordered 12 oz Rib Eye "pink" w 3 scallops-paired w a Malbec from southern France. Great wine choices! Steak came out blue and scallops were small and were slighly under. Steak re-fired and was alright. 3 stars for taste. Scallops 3 stars. Value-2 stars. Great taste w the garlic mashed but slightly overworked and somewhat gluey. 3.5 stars Asparagus excellent 5 stars Lamb-small portion but delicious. 4 stars for taste-3 stars for value. Had a Grasshopper for dessert. Yummy! Again, overall a very nice evening!
I was took here for Father's day and I loved it. The food was great but very costly. But I do have to say you will get what you paid for. The steak was perfect and the desserts were incredible.
Nothing short of AMAZING!!! The drinks, the food, the ambiance and the service were all just magical. Sophie was the most amazing server/bartender EVER and our entire evening was absolutely perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.
Worth every penny! The steaks were melt in your mouth perfect. I should have taken a picture of the charcuterie board and butter flight which were also amazing.
This steakhouse never disappoints. We had 5 in our party and 4 of us ordered the Tomahawk Steak. It is a huge cut of meat but so flavor if cooked to medium rare which they did perfectly. The staff were on top of it never letting our waters go empty, wine glasses were full, and no dirty plates or silverware were left to long. As I said, they always impress.
Lucked out and got a table when someone cancelled. Ordered several apps, all were delicious. Craft cocktails were also excellent. Steaks were good too. Our waitress was really friendly. Highly recommend for fine dining.
Surprised that beverages were left empty for so long prior to being refilled or noticed, as the restaurant wasn't busy whatsoever, also 6 of us were packed around one of the smaller, round tables and it was near impossible to eat without knocking things about, or trying to rearrange so we could make room to eat, we were left stacking dishes and trying to find space to converse not to mention eat. The staff was kind. Not what one would expect for ~700 bill.
