YMCA Barkley Childcare Center

My daughter started attending this daycare at 2 years old and has been here for almost 3 years. I have loved the teachers she has had the last couple of years. They have taught her a lot and I personally know the teachers genuinely care about the kids and their education. I would recommend this daycare center for ages 2-5.

I think its awful to allow the teachers to smoke cigarettes...which this center does. I would never take my child to a center where the teachers were allowed to smoke on their breaks and lunches. The smell is horrendous, not to mention the toxic exposure is dangerous to children. I have witnessed at least 3 teachers from this center that smoke throughout the day.

I recently visited the infant room at the Barkley YMCA Childcare Center and did not like what I saw. The girls watching the children couldn't have been more than 18 years old. None of the infants were happy, in fact, the entire time we were visiting they were all crying and were not attended to. They were swaddled with fleece blankets over their heads in 75 degree weather. The facility looked old and dirty and the prices were extremely high. I would never put my infant in their childcare center.

We did not have a good experience here and are currently looking for another facility. I wish I could support my family enough so I did have to put my 2yr old in the hands of strangers...I know I am not alone...
