Ok to good taste, good portions, prices seemed reasonable but I'm not a local. Tried one of the standard marinated beef and shrimp chang fen, plus the egg custard buns during lunch. Texture of the Chang fen rice noodle was good, though it does come in one big piece rather than two narrower pieces. Shrimp taste was good, texture could be firmer. Beef texture was good. Both or perhaps one of them had a little baking soda taste common in Chinese cooking. Would have liked the custard in the buns to be more liquid vs the paste type of texture.
I’ve ordered from online delivery in the past, but this is my first time visiting the store. The space is surprisingly huge and clean. We ordered a couple items and I personally like their fried dough fritter and preserved egg congee. Add their chilli oil! Dimsum was okay, nothing too special. On a side note, their soybean milk was amazing - exactly what I’ve been looking for as it has the right amount of sweetness!
This is the place for rice rolls and congee. The servers are nice and the food here is great. You order by writing down the # on a sheet of paper. For its price too, the food is well worth it. I recommendation the rice roll with Char Siu, so so good!! The dough fritters are also really good.
Visited Toronto for first time, dined at 10PM, staff are very helpfull. This restaurand foods is out of this world, tried their seafood combo congee, pork amd shrimp changfen, fried curler, all to be outrageous delicious. Best we ever had. Turned out, we decided to visit here once more time before we fly back to US. Got oyster congee, still as good as it is! No wonder, Their pick up order were non-stop, busy. The server yet still very friendly and helpful. Note: they have best chili oil!!
This is a really good place for rice rolls and congee as the prices are also very reasonable. There are many locations but the one in downtown is the most convenient as it’s accessible by the TTC. I’ve been here a few times and the quality of the food and service has always been great.
great place overall! interior was clean, the food was great, and menu is extensive. nobody seated us when we entered, but after we managed to get the attention of the waitress and sit down, the service was fast and attentive. i highly recommend!!
I always come to this place if I’m craving Chinese food for brunch/lunch. They’re usually not too busy and if there’s a wait, it’s not long. They have a variety of dishes on their menu, including a large selection of rice noodle rolls. Recently I tried their braised beef roll. Beef was well marinated but the rice roll itself lacked flavour. Aside from that, I usually get congee and fried dough sticks which are quite good. I also highly recommend their frozen Hong Kong milk tea!
I ordered the shrimp congee, dough stick rice noodle roll, regular dough sticks, sweet cruller, chicken feet and shrimp rolls through Uber Eats. All of the food arrived well packaged and the congee came with 2 types of sauce soy sauce and peanut sauce, I believe. All of the food tasted good but I am taking off 1 star because the prices are pretty high compared to other places in Toronto. For example, they charged me $3.50 for a regular dough stick but you can find the exact same dough sticks for less than $1 at chinatown and pacific mall. I think the best feature of Yin Ji Chang Fen is that they offer many different flavours of congee.
Ordered fish congee, rolled rice cakes, shrimp dim sum. Good flavours and portions for decent prices. 5% off for cash
Rated 5 stars for value for money. Only spent $15 for a Char Siew Chang Fen and a bowl of Pork Kidney Congee - inclusive of HST and tips. Chang Fen is very good with the thin skin that has a nice, chewy texture. The Congee is somewhat too watery though. Still, given the value, I will likely return.
