Yard & Flagon

A small pub in Saskatoon to hangout with friends or to go after a busy day at work. This place has an excellent collection of beer and wine and the staff are friendly. I recommend trying the monster burger and soup; like the name suggests, you need to be a monster to be able to actually finish the burger :D The one issue we found was parking. We went there at 6 and we had to drive around the block for half an hour before we got a spot to park.

I have had really good meals and I have had pretty mediocre meals here. The grilled cheese is great. My husband ordered the coconut chicken sandwich this time. It's a coconut crusted chicken breast with hazelnut cream cheese. We assumed that of it's on the menu, the flavors must go well together. Turns out, they really don't. It was bland and just an odd combination. I had the Cuban chorizo sandwich, and it was poorly assembled so that all the chorizo was in the centre of the sandwich and the whole thing tasted overwhelmingly of mustard and pickles. Good beer selection, though. I had a peanut butter stout.

The Yard and Flagon is a real, proper pub. Good food, good beer, great atmosphere. None of your sports bar franchise superficiality.

Always a favourite place, but haven't been there for a while, so the recent visit was a welcome change. Great food. Awesome service. Always recommend the Yard.

Try this place on a Thursday and order the coconut chicken curry soup. You won't be disappointed.
