XY is located in the heart of the popular Davie Street in downtown Vancouver. Went here unexpectedly after a night out with our staff and ended up here for a dance session. It was their premier for house music and it was awesome! Really welcoming environment for all, nice sized dance floor without any pushing and shoving and space to do your thing. Lots of friendly people at this venue and really amazing staff! Can't wait to go back!

Wonderful staff, nicely renovated space with a beautiful stage. One of the best karaoke nights in the city on Tuesdays: a big stage to sing on, and even lighting effects! Improv and drag show on Mondays are both solid.

Came here on a Saturday night. The club is a great space and quite beautiful, but there were not that many people. When we arrived there was a show on the dance floor, not particularly interesting. After the show the club quiet down even more.

Musical Theatre sing along night on Wednesdays from 9pm to 2am is my favourite part of the week. Amazing staff, great space, gorgeous bathrooms, awesome patios daytime only, and fabulous programming each night of the week.

I actually really like the venue and I think this place has a lot of potential, but my friends and I were disappointed when we came here for the Halloween event on Oct 27/18. For $30 plus fees you got nothing but admission and this is poor value for a DJ who played literally nothing but the same, droning beat the entire time. Snippets of popular songs were played over this repetitive beat but were cut off/never played in their entirety. Essentially just poor music which was reflected by the number of people sitting on the sidelines and leaving early. The first time I was there was much more fun when they played popular music and when the stage was available for dancing also, the cover was $7-8 AKA much more reasonable. Skip XY during events and instead visit The Junction which has cheaper admission and generally better music.

So I normally am the most passive customer on the planet and never post any reviews about bad experiences, but this feels totally warranted. We purchased tickets for XY’s Saturday night Pride party. On the ticket, when purchasing, the ticket did indicate that after 10:00PM, entry may not be guaranteed. While this is not completely unusual to see on certain tickets, the way they handled their approach with this is not great customer service. When we arrived at 15 till 11:00PM, there were already two long lines out the door due to being filled to capacity Capacity, according to the manager is 150 people, if this is true, it’s not even enough people to fill half the club. One line was for pre-purchased tickets and the other line was for people who needed to purchase tickets. Well I’ll be damned, but they were allowing people from the non-paid line to enter the club before the people who paid. This seemed like a big profiteering scam trying to capitalize on Pride weekend. This was infuriating, and the morale in the line of purchased ticket holders quickly faded as most people were angry at the situation. We finally made it in after an hour and forty-five minutes of waiting. To our surprise, the club was half empty again, the 150 capacity thing maybe true, but if that’s the case, I would re-think how they do future pride events. After being there for about an hour, we couldn’t recover from the bad juju. So we decided to leave. The icing on the cake of this whole situation is how the owner and event promoter reacted to our criticism of how they handled purchased ticket holders versus non-purchased ticket holders. They were both quite unapologetic and the promoter, to rub salt in the wound, yelled out to the bouncer, as we were walking out, “let the next three replacements in and only charge them 5 bucks to get in”. All in all, I wouldn’t do an advance purchase to a Pride event due to this situation and based on the customer service, wouldn’t recommend this club to friends or anyone else. There are much more friendly venues in the area that don’t operate under the same conditions.

This review is more specific to the TFD Presents event hosted at XY the Saturday evening of Vancouver Pride. Here's the situation. I bought a $40 USD ticket a week in advance. A friend sent me the link, and I clicked through to buy the ticket without reading carefully. Here's how it worked. The ticket only gave you an "opportunity" to get into the club if you arrived before 10:00 pm on the evening of Vancouver's Fireworks show which started at 10:00 pm. After 10:00 pm, you weren't guaranteed entry. In fact we waited for 1.5 hours to get inside. During that time, they were letting in non-ticket holders as well. We eventually got in at 12:30 am, and honestly, by my home city's gay-bar standards, there was almost no one there. I'm sure some of this was caused by Vancouver laws the club owner was forced to uphold, but all that aside, it didn't meet my expectations, I didn't have fun, and I would never buy a ticket like this again.

A very special place. The people, the ambiance, the freedom, the respect and the music is amazing. Very accepting and welcoming for everyone and very clean. Love enjoying a night of dancing here.

The space and decor is lovely, but is this place done already after a year and a half? We came on a Friday night and it was dead from 11 to 1. We finally gave up and left. :
