Eating at the Wooden Nickel is like being at grandma’s house: you get to tuck into tasty grub surrounded by warm and personable people. The servers are lovely humans. My heart was touched when one of them sat down beside an older fellow who was hard of hearing and helped him with his order. Super sweet! Make sure to try the cinnamon buns! Don’t have room? Get them to go, you won’t regret it. They are big and beautiful!
I came based on the excellent reviews and can definitely concur!! From the homemade breadtoasted and cinnamon buns to the eggs and bacon and chunky potatoes, every morsel was delicious and quality. Service was excellent. Prices are fair. No hesitation in recommending this local restaurant!
The eggs benny was delicious and perfectly cooked. Hashbrowns were full of flavor. Service and pricing was good, would recommend. Google maps weirdly takes you to the back of the building, so you need to walk or drive around to the other side to see the sign and entrance.Food: 5/5
First time trying this place ,been in lakecountry 5 years ,first impressions The smell of homemade cinnamon buns filled the air ,very nice pretty cool atmosphere, waitresses were nice and pleasant, that's the good now the bad coffee taste like something you would drink in a soup kitchen worst coffee of my life,water is tap water taste just like a garden hose ,I ordered bacon and eggs Hash browns are frozen grease filled things ,bacon cold and fatty gross eggs cooked in microwave waitresses says next time you come here request we cook your eggs on flat top toast was cold and very very lightly toasted ,all 3 of us were grossed out total was 42 bucks I'm so sorry about this review. I would say worst breakfast I've had in at least 10 years .I won't return ,and don't scrabble your eggs in the microwave were in lakecountry, farms every where .and when I'm dealing with a customer and he or she has clearly not eaten any of the food ZERO or coffee I DONT CHARGE THEM IF ITS NOT UP TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CUSTOMER, like seriously?
The BEST spot in Lake Country for breakfast.Always fast,friendly service,well priced and breakfast cooked perfectly. The eggs are the way you remember how eggs should look and taste-need to know where they come from!! Every trip back to Lake Country includes at least 1 visit to "The Nick".... Thanks very much for hanging in thru all the craziness of the last 2 years. You have a jewel, and should be proud.Hopefully see you in October!
Finally stopped in at the Wooden Nickel for breakfast after many drive pasts on route to Kelowna. The place was quaint with a surprisingly good number of tables. Ordered coffee and the breakfast special. Service for the initial cup of coffee was fast however refills were far and few between and the price for a cup was quite expensive. More than I’m used to paying from a cafe. Service was on the slower side, not exceptionally friendly had a sign on the door seeking wait staff. When the breakfasts came our coffees were not refilled, only once we were done eating were they refilled. The breakfast was basic but tasty. I was disappointed that they served deep fried hash brown patties and not homemade potato hash browns. They did have homemade sourdough toast that was good. I can now officially say I tried it but will not be a repeat customer for breakfast.

Another jewel in Lake Country....home made is the standard word of the day....and the Cinnamon rolls.....sshhhhhhh don't tell anyone I told you but ....it is always a toss up.....my meal or Cinnamon bun . Nice time to get that home cooked feeling

My daughter passed away and the following day I made my way to Lake County to meet with family to start planning the funeral. We met at the Wooden Nickel Cafe. Our waitress took our order very promptly. At this point we began to talk and we're obviously heartbroken and looked very sad. Our order was laid out in front of us by our waitress very quickly. And at this point our waitress said to us I'm not sure what you're going through right now but I'm very sorry. And I am picking up your bill today.we were 'just amazed by the generosity and kindness of a perfect stranger.
