The Wood County Community Health and Wellness Center operates out of the Wood County Health District. The center is a community-based organization that provides primary and preventive care, regardless of ability to pay or health insurance.

Story

We are accepting new patients including those with or without insurance, Medicaid and Medicare recipients. Appointments can be made Monday- Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Evening appointments are also available.

Mission

The mission of this organization shall be to provide quality, comprehensive primary health care throughout Wood county.

I've been going to this dentist over a year, and being a student i asked them if they were a free clinic as being a student bills were tight and i was told by two different receptionist that they were that they just charged my insurance and that was it. What i noticed at first when i first started going there is it was almost impossible to get an appointment, even when it was a serious tooth injury and it was a pain all around at times, but i didn't care because I thought I was at a free clinic so hey I got what i paid for. But today i got a whooping bill of 527 dollars for literally everything ive done for the past year and a half, seemingly like they kept this lie to me over a year about this. As a student im going to have to make ends meet due to their lie, plus with that all said due how it was so difficult being with them like walking around months with a half a tooth because it was busted, i think i would have rather gone to a dentist that told me the truth about me paying and actually gave me good service.
Where do I start?nI go in to see what needs done for a cleaning. They tell me I need a deep cleaning and have to send in the request to the insurance company. They said they will send it in that day I was there. They never did. I waited to hear from both them and my insurance company. I call the insurance company and they said it was never sent in, this was 2 weeks later. I call the center, she picks up the phone and laughs and asked if my ears were burning as she was about to call me, ya right..nProceeds to tell me that the insurance company hasn't ok'd the request yet. I laughed back at her and said um, they said it was never sent to them. Later that evening according to my insurance company, the dentist office sent it finally in to them..at 8pm at night!nI get ok'd for 3 of the 4 quadrant to get cleaned. I had to go back for more exrays to send in for the 4th quadrant. Then it gets ok'd. I get set up for a cleaning of 1 quadrant. The quadrant that is effecting me and hurts. They clean it, tell me they are gonna give me antibiotics. I never got the antibiotics now my cheeks hurts, and my eye socket hurts above the effected area. I calm this morning, no answer like normal. This place is a joke, or has a joke running it.
Came into the clinic for a cavity, was told that I couldn’t have my teeth examined because I hadn’t specifically requested it every other dentist I’ve been to included that as part of the visit, at no point while scheduling do they make you aware their clinic is different. They messed with my tooth so much that after leaving the clinic I’m not only in intense pain but without options for two months since they refuse to book until the new year but continue to take patient. Took a day off for absolutely nothing, this is a testimony to how negligent our healthcare system is to impoverished individuals.
The dental team is awesome! Made me feel comfortable, and less stressful as I hate going to the dentist.due to past dental but not them.very pleasant and explained everything needed done and answered all my questions. Thanks for a good dental visit!
I've been here for several dental appointments now and the staff are always courteous and informative. The majority of my appointments started on time. All of the dental assistants and the dentist were quick, knowledgeable, and kind, which I think are the most important qualities in dental situations! happy and grateful for their services!
