In my 30 years as a homeowner, I have dealt successfully and professionally with 2 insurance restoration companies who did prompt, professional restoration. Then Winmar came along to try to do a simple repair of a freak roof leak due to a wicked rain storm! Ha. Let me tell you that they are terrible to deal with!
It took them a full month to even submit their claim to Aviva. I had to contact my insurance twice to see what the stall in repairs was about. Then I waited around for another month to hear from Winmar. So when I inquired as to what the wait was about, then they started RANDOMLY, calling me at work asking for access to the house THAT DAY. Well, hello, I"M AT WORK!!!
I was never informed of what they were doing, what day they intended to come. If they saw a car in the yard, they would stop in and do some patches. I asked 2 times that they please let me know which day they were coming so that I can ensure someones home, never had the decency to inform me! If the worker said he'd be back the next day before 9 a.m., that meant late afternoon!! If a car was in the yard, they showed up... didn't matter if someone was just coming off night shift and working another night shift, didn't matter if we were entertaining guests, didn't matter if I was at home with the flu just needing a day in bed. Their employee was told to just go, without so much as a phone call to me!! How unprofessional!
I was waived the $1000 deductible from my insurance. Winmar billed me anyway! This company does not care about timelines, and does NOT communicate with the home owner. If your insurance company picks Winmar, fight it!! I still am, and am not done yet! I wish I could post a picture of my kitchen right now so that everyone can see!!

Had a pipe burst in my home. Winmar was contractor of choice for Aviva and so they came to check out the damage. Agent seemed to be in a rush and just wanted us to let his guys start working. Decided to go with another firm who was more professional.
Aviva still required Winmar to provide quote for repairs. They made us wait 3 weeks before submitting repair estimate, so we sat with three rooms in the house ripped down to studs unable to start work while Winmar dragged their feet.
Not recommended.
