Absolutely breathtaking park.nVery well done. Lots of parking. Washrooms, picnic tables. And a little platform with shelter.nAs for the bugs, they aren't that bad anymore. When its really hot out during the daytime, they are hiding. If you keep moving and have bug repellent on, you'll be fine.nJust don't stay past or when the sun is about to go down. Than you won't be dinner.nnShort walking distance through the old growth forest. Nice pathway to the board walk over the grassy swam area.nOnce you get to the beach, there's multiple shady spots with picnic tables and benches.nI love the facet it's all grass and no sand for the beach area. There's clay sand for the kids to play in. 100% clean. It actually turns out to be a nice mudd/clay bath.nnThe river is cold but so worth it on a hot summer day to cool off. And it's completely sandy all the way through. With little fishes swimming around the bottom.nThat wants nothing to do with you. So, there is nothing to worry about in that river.nnIt looks calm and collective like my life. I love exploring and sharing what I experienced for others to enjoy the area, too. And I hope that you enjoy this park with care and love like I did. Thanks for taking the time to read my review about this beautiful nature park.
This is such a beautiful peaceful green space. I enjoyed the old-growth trees, various plants, boardwalks and views - the view of the Slocan River was gorgeous. A very easy relaxed walk - easy to do the entire walk in less than an hour, even with stopping to take pictures. A must see!
Such peaceful park in the middle of paradise. I took my wife and two kids to take a stroll and ended up loving every moment of it. At the beach area, there are huge picnic tables some with shades with BBQ-ready pits, and swings for children. There was even a nice cabin change rooms in case you bring swimming suits. The park has a beautifully well-built deck which leads to the beach. This is a must-visit when you are in the area.
The Park is generally not very busy and so if you stop on one of the many boardwalks over the swamps the bird song resonates around you. When it comes to a stroll the park is nice with some unique features such as giant hollowed out cedar logs and views of the river, but swimming at mosquito beach can be tedious. The place has several amenities for a good time, but the mosquito's and the usual cold dampness of the area do not always make it the best place for a picnic.
Stopped by beginning of July. As soon as you exit the vehicle there are swarms, and I'm talking literally hundreds, of mosquitoes attacking you. They didn't care about our repellent or clothing. Tried to run down the path and they followed. It was truly horrible. Wouldn't recommend, at least in summer. It's very swampy, not why why this location was selected for a nature park. Looks well maintained, minus the mosquitoes.
