Will County Regional Office of Education
If you're a student or a teacher, a school-bus driver or a room mom, the Will County Regional Office of Education is working for you.
Acting as a service organization for the county's schools, the ROE makes sure the teachers are certified and bus drivers are trained. Building inspectors from the ROE check school building yearly for safety, and ROE staffers conduct criminal background checks on school employees and volunteers who work with children.
The ROE also also administers federal and state grant money for educational programs, and also sponsors events aimed at educational enrichment, including a county-wide Spelling Bee, a STEM Fair and a Student Government Day.
A school resource officer works to prevent truancy, and a Illinois High School Equivalency program is in place to help people who haven't earned a high school diploma.
