Wild Culture Artisan Bakery
"There is nothing simpler than bread. The grains we buy, milled here at the Bakery in our German stone mill, and turned into breads, sweets and pizzas, are mostly from Canadian farms that are certified organic. Our farmer friends have made huge sacrifices and commitments to grow this way. We are happy to support them. We feel good knowing that we are providing our customers with the purest grains on the planet. We mill onsite: Red Fife, spelt, emmer and einkorn, all heirloom grains. We buy pre-milled Kamut, Buckwheat, brown rice, and unbleached bread, pastry and pizza flours from organic suppliers Our whole grains arrive from prairie fields and the B.C. interior via the hands of Wayne and Carrie Smith."

Gluten Free/Vegan Cake Heaven! I cannot express how amazed I am at this bakery for their excellent cake they made for my anniversary. You wouldn’t be able to tell that this cake was dietary restricted whatsoever. Dense, but moist sponge with the perfect balance of tangy berry layers to sweet icing. If you’re gluten intolerant/dairy-free or vegan I highly recommend this bakery. Thank you for making our day extra special as I rarely get to enjoy cake due to my intolerances.
Lovely bakery in a beautiful spot. We eloped in Qualicum Beach and ordered treats for our wedding day here, including a delicious cake. Everything was super tasty and the staff were really lovely too.
Wild Culture Bakery recently provided the bread and desserts for our Christmas Eve dinner. Jean went out of her way to ensure we had our order when some of the ferries from the Lower Mainland were held up by weather. The whole grain sourdough was hearty and delicious, perfect for sharing around the table. We chose to slice it ourselves, but Wild Culture will also do this for you on request. The sourdough cinnamon bun was scrumptious. The lemon tart had just the right tanginess to sweetness ratio; the butter tart with raisins perfectly melted in your mouth; and the mince tart was so, so good. The pastry on these was so fresh, so deliciously crumbly … We’ll be returning to enjoy these fantastic baked goods served by the friendliest of staff whenever we’re in the area. Thank you, Wild Culture Bakery.
Amazing cake , amazing bread. Love their service and their quality. Such a pleasure to deal with.
Always a yummy stop on my travels between Nanaimo and the Comox Valley! This trip I picked up the Asiago cheese bread because they were out of cinnamon raisin. It was not the replacement I had hoped for and would wait for the next trip if this happened again. I also bought the chocolate Carmel tart which was ok. The lemon tart, however was outstanding. I definitely will be taking that home again!!! The pecan butter tart will also be a pass on further stops. Although this trip did not yield stellar results, it will not deter return trips. This is an outstanding bakery and we are still working our way through the menu, to see what will be our staples in the future.
I absolutely love this gem of a bakery. I order online with ease and have my father pick his pizza up Fridays and they always rave about it. The staff are always lovely, they provide excellent customer service and the quality is also excellent. Highly recommend for birthday cakes also. One of the best I have ordered. Worth a visit or to order online!
Great backstory to this beautiful bakery. Even better? The sourdough breads and goodies. Ordering online ahead makes it a quick and easy stop - except, you'll want to stay longer sitting on the patio - taking in the scent of fresh baking and chatting to patrons.
Such a good experience - amazing savoury scone, savoury gallete, cinnamon bun, and olive bread which were all warm out of the oven. We spoke to one of the employees outside on the patio and she was really friendly! Will absolutely come back here again.
I absolutely love the raspberry tarts. They have lots of other deserts and breads there depending on the day as well. When it’s nice out there is a really nice patio/garden area to relax and have our treats. Any time we are in the area I make sure we stop here.
A staple for amazing sourdough on my weekly shopping rounds. Check their website for the baking schedule. Bake-at-home pizza on Fridays pre-order to avoid disappointment. Very high quality ingredients and great care go into their products. Nice variety of treats that are great to reward yourself with for buying such amazing bread. All set in a cute garden.
