Went for a little lunch today, the food and people were amazing. I had a spicy chicken roll and a snow shoe, both were really good. My wife had a bowl of the soup of the day and a dessert. The soup was to die for, the flavors were amazing, next time I am getting a bowl. If you are ever in Qualicum Beach give this place a try, you would regret it.
Egad, that was the most delicious steak and mushroom pie I've had in a very long time! Spectacular pasty, and absolutely yumarama filling... The dog still cannot believe I didn't share it...not even a bite. I followed this with one of the peach custard turnovers, and it was amazing as well. I will be making this a regular stop, very impressed with the quality.
We stopped in for a quick bite while shopping in Qualicum. Delicious cauliflower soup and spinach & onion roll. Very friendly and helpful service- they took the time to tell us about their baked treats. I am glad I decided on the lemon coconut square- it was the perfect dessert.
New owners - not great - odd aftertaste left us queasy. Helena & Peter will be missed. There are much better bakeries in QB just few blocks away.... Naked Naturals for instance just a 5 minute walk - good food and a nice sunny patio
We ordered two sandwiches today, one smoked turkey and the other was roast beef. The roast beef was barely there, one single extremely thin slice of beef that you could barely taste. At 9.95 it was definitely not worth the price and won't be going back.
I stopped by the bakery for the third time since the new owners have taken over and had a nice lunch with a friend today. My first visit i grabbed a chicken samosa which ended up being quite tasty. The pastry was tender and flaky and the filling was nicely spiced although not abundant. Next visit I was craving an apple fritter and this bakery used to make the best. Everything in the case looked delicious but I eventually decided on the fritter and a jelly donut. The jelly donut was delicious, nice and fresh. The apple fritter on the other hand tasted of Indian spices similar to the masala used in the samosas. Not terrible but not my favourite either. Today’s lunch consisted of a tasty mushroom rosemary soup that was really delicious. It was a little devoid of mushrooms but the broth was peppery in a good way on a cold day and they used fresh rosemary. My buddy loved the soup as well. It was served with a slice of buttered lightly toasted fresh bread that was delicious especially dipped in the soup. I could have eaten a whole loaf. I ordered a steak and mushroom pie and my friend got the last piece of deep dish apple pie. His pie arrived hot and my steak and mushroom pie arrived cold and in the form of a chicken pie lol I didn’t bother to complain as I like chicken pie. The apple pie was excellent with tons of fresh apples, really nice. I enjoyed the pastry of my chicken pie, even cold but very little filling and chicken. We both had coffee and it was hot and delicious. I have mixed feelings about the bakery but I will try it another time as things are pretty good. I do think it is expensive for the portion size though, so don’t be surprised.
I had what I think is the best cinnamon bun I have every had. Light, tender dough. Not too sweet. Perfect cream cheese icing. Highly recommend it.
Great food and incredibly friendly owners! Very light pastries and hearty soups.
Some of the best food I've had while visiting the island!! Would 10/10 recommend this place for anyone that is visiting, worth a detour as well!
We used to drive up from Victoria a couple times a year just to grab a couple meat pies and pastery desserts to relax either there or at the beach or bring to AirBnb's in the area. Not only are the staff always welcoming and amazing. It's the atmosphere of small town, recognizable faces and a peaceful air. The baked goods are always fresh and always tasty. One of our favorites in the entire Qualicum area.
