This museum is really good, considering it’s location in a small town. There are lots of galleries and exhibitions to see here. The Whyte family, Banff history, paintings and some contemporary art made by local artists. For a $10 fee, I think it’s worth it. The gallery have been well kept and most of the artifacts, paintings and rare items are nicely preserved. This is a good additional activity in Banff if you’re not into Skiing or hiking. We went on Saturday noon and it was just me and my partner the whole time.
At 10 per person free for military. It was a eye opening experience. Amazing works of art and great historical artifacts. A must see in Banff..Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The perfect place for an hour or more exploring Banffs past showings it's development as a mountain resort town. A highlight when I visited was the short film about making a traditional birch bark canoe. The collection of historic buildings in the grounds really add to the place though not always open to the public you can still walk around them. The tranquil museum makes a nice contrast to the retail focus of the town centre.
I'd recommend this museum over the Banff Park Museum if you're looking for general history and art. But you should visit both - they're within very close walking distance of each other.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a great old museum worth stopping in and having a look and you can check on their website to see what kind of expeditions they're running
First time. Enjoyed the art installation as well as historical pieces. The archive was fantastic. We could have spent all day going through the photographs. It also has a wonderful gift shop with interesting tchotches.
This museum is such a gem and love their gift shop for beautiful cards, crafts, books and so much more! However, always find the service disappointing…often some grumpy ladies working at the greeting area which doesn’t make me feel welcome there but that can easily be improved with the right training in place
We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful our trip to this museum was! We learned alot and the art was beautiful. Both staff we interacted with were fantastic and helpful!
Walking distance from downtown Banff. Nice exhibit about the history of the region and art Tickets are $10 and they have student discount. No water is allowed inside I was told to not carry my water bottle the museum and no water fountain. Bow river trail runs right behind the museum.
Good place to go when visiting Banff. 10 dollars entrance adults and under 12 free entrance. Not too big. But many interesting things to see about the history of the region. Outside for free you can walk around and see some historic houses moved to the museum. Recommended. The bison dump on a frame from 1800's was something to see LOL. And in the way in you may see a couple of regular visitors from the wild. See pictures
