Whatcom Educational Credit Union

Our family has banked with WECU for years and have never had a poor experience. Services include: car loans (2), safe deposit box, Visa credit cards (1% back annually), household checking and savings accounts for everyone (including the kids) in the family. Customer service is always fast and friendly. The app is easy to use, even for mobile deposits for my daughter who lives out of state. Plus, the employees are active in the community volunteering for multiple non-profits. An all around great organization that I recommend.

I don't know why anyone would have anything bad to say about wecu! I have had great experiences there as opposed to Key Bank for example. They are extremely helpful and friendly. I have had my account defrauded buy ex-girlfriend twice, and both times the situation was handled within two days with my money returned to me in full! I would never bank anywhere else and I would advise you to give them a try. Also manager Jenny is amazing! thank you Jenny!!

Bar none the most 'corporate' feeling credit union I've ever associated with. Suffice to say it would take an hour to list all the screw ups and misinformation I've had to deal with regarding this institution. And they're not part of the Shared Branch Network of credit unions which is not only counter to the entire mentality of Credit Unions, but makes them useless to me when I'm out of state.

Worst bank ever. At first I ask about open an account for wire transfer and they promised it won't charge with incoming wire transfer,I met many problem in wire transfer then they said they are not a bank they don't have a SWIFT code which made me frustrating as it can't do international transfer at all,and it lost my main purpose of having an account. Then I went there twice to get into my online banking they keep sending me home to get temporary social security number, I just don't understand if you can't verified your member in person which have all documents, how are you able to verify them in front of the phone? It gets me frustrating and the officer just like I am the one who did something wrong, keep saying who ask you to come in at the meanwhile he is the one who come shake my hand and said come on in. I will close my wecu account right the second I got other bank account!

This Credit Union is absolutely horrible. I bought my first car about a year and a half ago and since then have had nothing but issues with this place. They do not have a good way to pay bills. They do not have a direct withdraw option, I mean it is 2017. When I called to try and figure out how to PAY money to them all the options require more money. You can call with a fee, an external transfer with a fee, or drive up there which cost money as well. I live an hour and a half away from Bellingham and I work so it is hard for me to make it up there every month to make my payment. (the cheapest option for me. Every month I get a letter in the mail stating my insurance has been canceled which it has not, I contact my insurance and they have told me on multiple accounts that it is WECU's responsibility to check with the company and they have not. So every month I spend a week trying to figure their issues out. And these are just two issues I face with this credit union.
