We showed up at Whale Cove on a whim...and. Oh..are we ever glad we did! The place is run by beautiful soul named Tina who will do her most to see that you have a pleasant stay. I mean where else can you go to a campground and have a BATH? No kidding...there is a bath house a shower house a laundromat a social hall a museum an Inn for those who are not a fan of camping ( newly renovated), and many more conveniences. The sites are private...no pack em stack em trailers here. Lots of room for trailers and tenters. Lots to do and see in the area. Highly recommend it.

We ended up staying at Whale Cove Campground after reading spectacular reviews online. Being close to our whale watching tour the next day it seemed a convenient and recommended choice. Unfortunately, we were not happy campers. Firstly, we knew we would be arriving well after dark so to be safe we called ahead to be sure there was a site available for our 28ft fifth wheel RV. Luckily, after explaining to them the dimensions of our RV, we were kindly told they did have space for us and that we would be left a map to assist us in finding an available lot for us. Sure enough, the map was left for us marking a number of spots unoccupied that we could choose from. To ensure we had privacy we decided to take one of the sites sheltered by trees, down a forested lane way. Before even getting to the first site, we noticed how uneven and bumpy the road was that led to it, and the lack of room to even properly back into any of the sites in that area. We quickly decided to leave and find another spot. The lane way had a separate exit and as leaving, the branches which were not at all cut back, severely scratched the side of our new RV. We also almost flipped trying to maneuver out of the claustrophobic trail with our two year old in the backseat. After checking out all other available lots, we chose one basically in the middle of the park with absolutely no privacy due to the fact that a 28ft vehicle would not have enough room to properly park elsewhere. After explaining to the owners what happened to our trailer, she simply stated, "well you shouldn't of gone down there", which was completely unfair as we explained how big our RV was beforehand and were given those sites as suitable options. Second, the bathrooms are located in a convenient area central to the campground and do offer free showers. However, we were definitely under the impression they were not cleaned often, as the garbage remained full for our stay and the showers had numerous used, dirty soap bars inside. The playground was full of garbage! Empty containers and cleaning wipes all over the ground that were not picked up. The sandbox consisted of 90% broken toys, and the grass had not been cut in ages. They do have a 'museum/social room' located in the basement of the main office building although, I doubt many would want to spend much time in it. It's very damp and honestly, kind of creepy! Lastly, the WiFi does NOT work, anywhere other than in front of their office which, like the rest of the campground, is on top of a very windy hill. So if bundling up like your dressed for the Arctic to sit outside online doesn't bother you, you should be fine. During our stay (which was extended due to our whale watch tour being rescheduled), we noticed that the clients this campground did receive were in much smaller travel vehicles such as truck campers and vans. Whale Cove Campground would probably be best suited for these smaller recreational vehicles unless some serious maintenance was done. We did however see them with a chainsaw cutting branches around the area we scratched our trailer in after we checked out, which was irritating, to say the least. I would not recommend this campground to anyone unless you were in dire need of a place to stay.

Charming sites, friendly people! And great service! Our firewood was delivered to our site after hours, and the owner was super nice and very accommodating.

Great little spot with an awesome food truck. Better for those who want to explore during the day and come back to the site at night. Nothing else to do there.
