I give four out of five stars because, while this is a well run, well appointed, clean and convenient campground, it is pretty tight and lacks privacy. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay in Red Deer and will definitely book again in the future. However, for those seeking a recreational camping experience, this would not be my first choice.
Only plus I can say for this camp ground is it’s closeness to down town or exhibition grounds. Small camping sites. Very poor wifi. No streaming aloud. Fairly noisy at nights as you are close to very busy roads. Another + is that the management is really friendly.
We attended the Hlinka Gretzky tourney held in Red Deer the first part of August & chose Westerner RV as our place to stay. We were there for 7 days happy with the accommodation but not impressed with staff. The park was about half full so lots of empty spots. We had family that came from BC & some from Calgary as we had a family member playing on Team Canada so gave us an opportunity to get together. We had a picnic for lunch midweek & were given no consideration for parking eventhough spots ahead & behind us were empty. In advance of the gathering we let park attendants know that there would be extras for a short while. It was almost at the point of harassment as he would stand at the end of the park to see where our vehicles went from that afternoon until the end of the week! We weren't a bunch of kids organizing a party, average age was 60 & a couple of seniors with mobility issues. We were quiet & considerate of others, & followed the rules. Had the park been at full capacity we would never have asked. Very disappointed with the total lack of public relations. Will re-think our accommodation the next time visiting in Red Deer. We stayed one night. They gave us a long pull thru site. Owners very friendly and helpful. Even waved to us as we left. Yes the sites were close but really plenty of room. We enjoyed our one night there. Easy on /off " gasoline alley " close so we fueled up before we landed. Will definitely stay again if we ever come this way.
Do Not Come Here Horrible Service !!!!!!! So we came here in July when westerner days was going with our school bus that we converted into a skoolie motor home looking for a campground to stay at for the night that was around where westerner days was happening and saw this campground so we rolled up to the campground office wanting to sign in and get ourselves a site but the moment we stepped in the office we were told by the caretakers that we couldn’t camp here because our of the way our bus looked now I agree that our bus isn’t the newest and most expensive looking unit but you would think campgrounds would gladly welcome unquie looking skoolies / rv’s like ours into their campground but I guess not in this case.So we took one big loop around the campground and respectfully left and we majorly surprised to see that there was rarely anything under 2014 that was there so you gotta have a newer rv to even be able to camp there and it’s also gonna cost you 55 bucks to stay there and that’s not even including firewood and it’s also really rude and disrespectful service.Would Definitely Not Recommend !!!
What a great campground. Close to all kinds of ameneties with beautiful mature trees making it feel like you are in the country. Super clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful staff. Sites of all sizes. Our large unit was able to fit into a back in spot which usually doesn't happen. Will definitely be back!
At Red Deer for a Dog Show near the Westerner Exhibition Grounds. This is the cleanest of the Dog Show Venues we have been at in the past 3 months. Campground is near to the dog show building, a short walk. 30amp power, sewer, temp day water connection fill only in early April. We would return to to stay with Westerner Campground again.
The grounds are clean and well-kept. Buildings are inviting bright and clean. Restrooms: Very clean.
Great place to stay, very well maintained and close to major amenities.
The only positive about this park is the convenience. The stalls are tiny and have little to no shade cover. The staff specifically The management are hard to get ahold of and on Sundays are completely unreachable... I needed shower tokens ours was broken at the time for me and my wife and was told no because it was their day off when the office Is literally 20 ft. From where they stay lol. after I persisted and asked for the owners number I was told I could have them but I had to leave the next morning because I was being rude.... it was a small favor I don't think walking 20ft and changing a 5 is going above and beyond lol.... anyways with what they charge and the service I received I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone it's also very noisy as the highway is rite beside it and when the owner did call me he told me I was wrong and that he didn't care if I left a bad review so here it is I just hope I help others to avoid the mistake I made in staying at this place
