Viet sub Bahn mi 4.2/5 was a filling sandwich with a nice light flavor and crunchy toppings. Parisian style baguette was very fresh; soft inside and crispy exterior but the thickness and size of the baguette diluted the light flavor of the meats and toppings. The pork paté and cilantro were my favorite parts, super fast service as well!
I am a chef for 30 years in Ottawa. I have tried a few banh mi placed in Ottawa and I must admit Westboro Subs is our favorite spot banh mi in Ottawa! I like all the flavors beef, chicken, pork the subs is just so yummy. Baguette sandwich made fresh in front of you. We also had vermicelli with grilled pork and grilled chicken with spring rolls and it's delicious!! Worth the money!! Very friendly people & good customer service. Thank you for the real authentic foods. All the best! Highly recommend!!
Awesome sandwiches. Good price. The quality of the ingredients is good enough. The bread is exactly how bread should be for a Banh Mi. It’s light, crisp on the outside and soft inside. We've tried their Vermicelli on the menu B5, B6, and B7. They are delicious Vermicelli. Great flavors, tasty and a great selection to choose from on there menu. We love your foods on the first day we tried. Pate Chaud Appetizer and Taro, Mango, Avocado and Strawberry smoothies a must try! Best Vietnamese Coffee! The owner and staff are very nice. Good communication, and excellent customer service. It's worth to try! We will be coming back for more.
I was recommended to try the food here and it was delicious. Decided to try a bunch of items on their menu to see how they tasted. The banh mi was soft and chewy, the grilled meats were flavourful, and there was plenty of fresh vegetables. The vermicelli was larger than I thought it would be no complaints and the grilled meats are as good as the ones in the banh mi. The spring rolls were still pretty crispy from the ride home and the fillings was a mixture of meat and vegetables. Everything tasted authentic and would highly recommend. I'll be back to try other items on the menu.
06/02/22 I’m updating my review. They make their bread from scratch now. I could smell the aroma of fresh bread from down the street and asked them about it. The dough is fermented and baked daily in-house. Makes the world of a difference and I think their banh mis are PHENOMENAL. They’re always quick and a great grab n go for lunch.
Love seeing more Bánh Mì shops popping up in the city!!! I really enjoyed the food from Westboro Sub. I ordered their assorted subs with a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The buns were light and fluffy and the filling is flavourful and tasty - exactly how Banh Mi should taste. Excited to try out all the other stuff!!
New local spot to grab a quick and healthy bite with authentic Vietnamese flavours. We tried the OG cold cut banh mi sub and also the Pâté Chaud, a savoury pork pastry and the only place in Ottawa serving this!. The banh mi actually uses sub bread and not typical baguette so it doesn't have the crusty crunch but the flavours are fresh and good. The Pâté Chaud was outstanding with super light and crispy pastry layers and a nicely seasoned filling of tender pork. Staff are friendly and efficient.
I highly recommend Westboro Subs to anyone in the mood for Vietnamese Cuisine. It has a menu full of delicious Banh Mi options. Not sure if there's any other banh mi spot that offers a fried egg, but this one does! Bread was always fresh. Delicious! tasty Vietnamese Coffee, great dessert three colors and the only place in Ottawa serving the Pâté Chaud, a savoury pork pastry. Friendly and fantastic team. They give each customer a warm welcome and work hard to get each order out in a timely manner. They are also happy to make recommendations if it’s your first visit or you’re looking to try something new. Overall, great place to eat or grab a snack. Items are all inexpensive! We'll come back for more.
An absolute gem of a place. Friendly and family run. A superb addition to the many food options along Wellington West. The Viet Sub and the Grilled Pork sub were so fresh and the smell when you opened the wrapper was phenomenal. The balance was perfect. The sausage rolls were good and the peanut sauce was excellent. The star of the show was the pate chaud, hands down....it was so very good that it took a boring zoom work meeting to stop me heading back down to buy more! Keep up the great work. Welcome to the neighbourhood.
Had to tried Westboro Subs as I’ve yet to come across an authentic tasting banh mi in Ottawa, being Vietnamese myself. I’m very impressed by how fresh and flavourful the meats and veggies were—and actually nestled in a French baguette! I ordered the banh mi Thit Nguoi $6.50 & Nem Nuong $8.50, and fresh rolls, with Flan for dessert. Overall everything tasted great, however, the fresh rolls were nothing to write home about, and quite pricey at 2 rolls for $6. I’d highly recommend checking this new joint out, and will def be back to try other items on the menu!
