West Shore Urology Plc

I was referred to this office by my Primary Care Physician. A month later they sent me paperwork including a scheduled appointment for two months after that. I filled out and returned the paperwork, and later called to confirm my appointment, explaining that I am a business owner and the time of the appointment was during my normal business hours and would require me closing my business. I asked if I would be seen as scheduled and was assured that the wait time was usually not excessive. I had my doubts when I arrived and signed in. The sign in sheet was ten patients long, and the reception area was crowded. I waited patiently and was finally called up 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment and informed there was still paperwork I needed to get filled out. I explained I had already done all of it and was informed then that they needed to call my insurance to get authorization. I then asked how much longer I would have to wait, and was informed it would be at least another hour plus. When I explained my situation, I was told I could either wait or reschedule. I couldn't wait as I had to be back at my place of business so I checked into rescheduling. The next available date was not until the end of January so I politely informed them that I would find another Urologist that considered his patients time as valuable as his own. Maybe I'm being a jerk but I sure that had I shown up an hour and a half late for my appointment, I would not have been seen. Emergencies happen, but communication is key as is proper scheduling, and this business can't seem to do either one.

I brought my elderly dad here for an appt. We waited at least an hour past hour scheduled time to be checked in, filled out dozens of pages of forms (he was already a patient there). We were scheduled for 1:50, at 3:30, we still hadn't seen the doctor. Try somewhere else first, if you can. Bonus bad; It's a little difficult to navigate in a wheelchair, small rooms, narrow doors, not enough room in waiting area for wheel chairs, etc. Overall, not a pleasant experience.

After being told by Dr. Phelps that a procedure was no problem and that my Medicaid insurance should cover everything. I then received a call stateing she was choosing not to do the procedure because it was elective and argued my insurance didn't cover it also admitting they never spoke with my insurance. She told me at my appointment she performed over 80 vasectomies in the last year. I find it hard to believe none of those were elective. I feel I've been lied to on multiple occasions now and would recommend no one deal with this practice unless forced.
