West Road Motel

A weird experience from the moment we drove in. I made a reservation online but they couldn't call it up when I arrived. That wasn't a problem because there was hardly anyone staying there to begin with. That is except for the people who seem to live there full time. Lots of tattoos, very few teeth and not much to do other than sit around and smoke. I will say they are friendly but that isn't always a positive. The smell in the office should have been a tip off to what the rest of the place was like. Our room was awash in air freshener which was only made worse by the air conditioner. When I sat in the bed I felt something under the covers which turned out to be a folding knife and what I hope were cake crumbs. We usually embrace the funky and offbeat but this was way over the top. Oh, and I'm keeping the knife.

Did not have or know about our reservation even though I have a confirmation email. Book from the website. Pretty grounds, room clean but very dated. Air conditioner was a window unit and really old, maybe from the 1960's. Able to accommodate us but seemed to have a lot of problems with running a motel. It is convenient and allows pets but needs some updates and better reservation systems.

Sink was leaking, no WiFi even though sign outside says free Wi-Fi.

A few friends and I need a place to crash and this was clearly the best bang for your buck in the area. It was the only motel in the area. We checked in. As we walked past the creaking doors at the desolate buildings, the looming fog and full moon really raised the hair on my neck with ease.

Nice location, great views of the mountains, close to downtown.
