West Meadowlark Community League plays an important role in providing local recreational programs, special events, organized sports, access to skating rinks and other community events!
West Meadowlark Park is a residential neighbourhood in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The area was originally part of the Town of Jasper Place, and became a part of Edmonton when Jasper Place amalgamated with the City of Edmonton in 1964. The neighbourhood is bounded on the west by 170 Street, on the east by 163 Street, on the south by 87 Avenue, and on the north by 95 Avenue.
The West Meadowlark Community League was incorporated in 1968 and the community hall was built in 1969. The West Meadowlark Community League area has a fully accessible playground footprint (no sand), basketball standards, shaded picnic structure and spray park and maintains a hockey rink and social skating rink in the winter. We'll be celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2018.
The community has 2 elementary schools (Annunciation Elementary Catholic School and Afton School of the Arts), and 2 high schools (St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School and Jasper Place Composite High School)
Residents of West Meadowlark Park have easy bridge access to West Edmonton Mall and Misericordia Hospital is within our boundaries. West Meadowlark Park is also home to a wonderful array of recreation and sports facilities. City run facilities such as the Johnny Bright Sports Park, the Jasper Place Fitness and Leisure Centre, the St. Francis Xavier Sports Complex and the Bill Hunter Centre are located on the east side of the neighbourhood between Jasper Place High School and St. Francis Xavier High School.
