The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. The wonderful Wendy keeps a very hands on approach and makes sure the food is always fresh. She sells out of some things quite quickly so order ahead. Fresh baked croissants in the morning and various sweet and savoury pastry delights intermingle with specials of the day. Fresh salads which are seasonal, such as the sublime mango and black bean, fresh made coleslaw or guacamole sit temptingly in the fridge. Vegetarians are also catered for, with veggie lasagne amongst one of the highlights in the frozen section. You can pretty much find anything you would want to eat here, including my husband's favourite home made meat loaf. Wendy and her delightful store just make everything better, as you can tell from the locals constantly popping in to buy her products. Oh and did I mention the chocolate and home made vanilla or rum fudge and so much more. Bon appetit! Enjoy
I passed Wendy B's whilst working in the area on Saturday. What a great find, an "Aladdin's Cave " of tasty treats. Fresh sausage rolls and tea cakes. What more could an Englishman want. We will definitely be back and spend more time looking at everything available.
Helpful, professional, and welcoming staff. Everything that I have tried has been delicious, and the quality is exceptional. We are so lucky to have this gem of a food shop / gift store in our community! If you haven’t tried the ginger scones, you really should!
The food is very good and would give it a solid 4-4.5 but have to average out my rating with the overall service experience. I know times have changed a little, but there is little to no interest in providing the customer with a positive/friendly experience unless maybe you spend over a certain threshold. Most importantly, everyone in the store is wearing a mask, except the owner, which doesn’t seem to jive with everything else everyone is doing out there to stop the spread. I know masks are annoying, but it seems like a necessary hassle for all, unless she knows something about the transmission of covid that the CDC doesn’t.
The food is good as always and the butter tarts are perfect. But my experience there was not as good as usual yesterday as the protocols for covid-19 were not being followed by staff or all customers. My daughter and I were uncomfortable and worried as people wandered around handling things, pulling down masks to lean around plexiglass barriers, prepared sandwiches with no masks on, etc. They may be regulars, but we need those rules right now. This is a tourist area.
OMG. I live in Toronto and have been to several major cities across the U.S. and Europe, they top the most extravagant fine food outlets I've eaten at anywhere by far. Simple, homemade, unbelievably delicious food. Their chicken pot curry pie's are to die for and their stuffed peppers incredible. A total hidden gem and I feel uneasy posting this cause I don't want too many people knowing about this place in case I can't get sold out of what they make and I can't stock up once I'm down on the weekend. An oasis in the middle of our trip!!! Saved us from hot dogs, burgers or fries. Food is amazing, grilled cheese sandwich to die for... Vegan options and great service! Wendy B you rocked my stomach Goooodd!!!
So many things... but the ginger snaps are to die for. We regularly go for those, her carrot cake, best meat pies, soup, meatloaf, and whatever else she has that day! Delicious every time!
Wendy is a national treasure and we are privileged to have her in our village. She provides the finest foods with great service and a cheery welcome every visit!
