The Washburn Cultural Center is a community gathering place dedicated to fostering, presenting and preserving the cultural, artistic and historical life of Washburn and the surrounding Chequamegon Bay area.
We feature Art Galleries, an Antiques and Gift Shop, and Washburn Area Historical Museum.
We are a community resource and encourage the use of our building for meetings, receptions, workshops and exhibits.
Membership is open to all who desire to participate in the preservation of our historic brownstone building and the rich heritage of the area.
Restoration of our facility was started in late 1991 and a grand opening celebration in the summer of 1993 marked our “official” beginning.
Our 1890 brownstone bank building is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places.
2007 marked another milestone when we replaced the original 117 year old roof with a new one that is historically and architecturally appropriate.
In the summer of 2008 we opened the Ungrodt Gallery, our store, which features antiques, art and gifts, and showcases fine art, crafts and collectibles.
