I've been to all of the saltwater aquarium stores in Calgary and this is the best. His products are very fairly priced and much less expensive than other stores in the city. He is constantly getting in new corals and fish and tries to frequently order rare items. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and kind plus he has been in this hobby for decades. His goods are quality items from Europe and America and he prices them to sell. He focuses primarily on Saltwater tanks but you can find some other stuff too. Definitely take a trip if you're into the hobby and want some unique corals and fish!
I live in Saskatoon but go to Calgary often. Danny is very knowledgeable about the fish and corals he sells, as well as all the other items he sells. His prices are very good as well. My favourite saltwater store in all of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The best there is in town. The owner is incredibly friendly and kind. Helps you with everything you need and he advices you with concerns about your aquarium. He suggests what is good and what is not for your aquarium. I love how he sells you the right pets and products to have an incredible aquarium at home. Very honest!
Are you looking for the highest quality aquatic specimens??? This is the place to go! All my pictures don't do this place justice! The condition of every tank shows how much effort and knowledge Wai has and puts into the hobby! Even though he only stocks salt water I trusted him to order in and hand pick some FRESHWATER tropicals for me! If you need ANYTHING Saltwater OR FRESHWATER, come talk to Wai!
I was in the market for new equipment for my new fish tank. I went to see Daniel cause he was the only place in town that had everything I needed in stock. Never been to the store before but after talking to him for an hour. I walked out with everything I was looking for plus more. I will not go anywhere else. Used to shop with reefsupplies.ca and JL thinking they were the best price around. But Daniel beat their prices. Plus he is local and makes warranty easy if needed. The store display tanks looked amazing and there was lots of beautiful fish and coral. If you need anything I would not hesitate to shop here or talk to Daniel. Thank You WAI'S!!
Went to store with my wife and kids to get some soft coral and a few fish. Guy looked up at us through top of his glasses and never acknowledge us as we walked by. We were the only ones in the store at the time. Looked around for 15 to 20 minutes and felt very unwelcomed. No one came near us or acknowledged that we were even there. There was someone smoking somewhere in the store and it was coming out around my kids. Large selection of fish and coral, but seen so many dead fish. Was too scared to purchase any fish there. So we decided to leave. The same thing as we were leaving, the guy looks up at us through the top of his glasses without raising his head and never acknowledged us as we were walking out. Will never visit this store again.
Upgraded from 4 to 5 stars because after a few years, Daniel has never done us wrong. I converted my last freshwater planted aquarium to another saltwater because Daniel will be dependable for years. Large frag selection. Regularly carries high tech equipment other stores won't order. Friendly, pragmatic. Regularly imports maricultured SPS colonies but their aquarium suitability is hit or miss. Large LPS collection, just massive. His corals are more costly because they're shipped to him upside down suspended by styrofoam, each coral individually bagged. That's a lot of water to ship and water is heavy but you get healthy coral as a result that's not going to have busted tips and damaged flesh. Livestock inventory is sporadic because it seems like he waits for good prices and safe shipping before ordering. Willing to talk shop & share info on how the industry works. I've worked in the industry and can confirm that his fish care is top notch. Unhealthy fish are in that state when they arrive. We're in a land locked city in the middle of nowhere and the fish travel across the globe to get here. Look at how plump and healthy his copperband butterflies are, after he's had them for a month or two. He cares about the animals. The other store in town doesn't hold their fish inventory for longer than a month and the other store's inexperienced staff don't care for fish as well as Daniel. This is a place where you can get healthy fish which have had a full month or two to recover and health up after shipping.
The best place for salt water fish, coral and equipment! The owner is so friendly and knowledgeable. After visiting for the first time, we decided we wanted a saltwater tank, because of how amazing his tanks are compared to other places. He doesn’t try to up-sale products, he will recommend an alternative. And the amount of knowledge you can gain from asking anything he doesn’t make you feel dumb for asking numerous questions which could be considered tedious is such a huge positive! Will happily be a repeat customer, and highly recommend to anyone! Thanks for your repeated help!
I wish I would have stopped in here sooner. Was amazed by the selection of coral and fish. And everything looked so healthy and clean. Huge selection of dry goods and equipment as well. Very helpful and friendly. I look forward to shopping here a lot more in the future
Decent salt water aquatics store. Crazy large puffer fish and some rare types. Decent amount of fish and products, with reasonable prices. Service was better than some places as well. ** Thank you very much for reading my reviews.
