Great place! It has a fitness center, basketball court inside the gym, pool, hot tub, change rooms, living wall, and the Ted Wake Center a big room with a kitchen with an open window.nnPool: It is smaller. I know a couple of the lifeguards & swim instructors here. I haven't seen them work at the pool, but they have given many hours as volunteers. They are really amazing people! The pool is noisy echos due to the design of the room. I have volunteered on a number of field trips here with schools, and the kids can barely hear you when you raise your voice for basic instructions. The diving board is loud when in use. They have a ramp in the pool and a device for kids in wheelchairs that they can use in the water. One of the kids on the trip could use it, but the other one had to stay outside of the pool just outside of the pool doors. There is a ramp there that allowed him to move around. He enjoyed speeding around on that. The kids came for a science field trip here. They used the living wall inside the pool area and conducted buoyancy experiments in the pool using empty water battles and a piece of clay.nnFitness Center: They have a number of pieces of equipment, but it is small. It is closer to a hotel-sized one than the YMCA. Some of the machines looked worn. They have a cleaning station. Washrooms are down the hall. See my pics for details. There is a fee for each use, a membership, or you can buy passes for a certain number of times. I was surprised that it wasn't a lot cheaper than the YMCA if you want to try it out for a short while if you go regularly, like I do 3x /week.nnGym: My tween has enjoyed using the gym here a bit.nnTed Wake Center: Great room that they previously ran an amazing youth program on Friday nights, but now have stopped. They had pizza and snacks, swimming, basketball, and video games for $4.07 once a month. My daughter and her friend loved this program, but now they only have basketball on Fridays. It was such a popular program; 40 tweens and teens would come each time. I have no idea why they cancelled it.
Family change room is very small. No space to help your children get changed. Individual stalls were few, cramped, and unavailable with participants leaving their clothing in them. The family change room is obviously not used by families, as there were only adults lounging and loitering around in that tiny space.
The building is well maintained though old. The chlorine level in the pool and hot tub seem higher than the levels at the Dolson pool
One of my favourite local pools to go to! It has a working sauna and the water isn’t freezing.
Lauren took care of my concerns over my little one being in the wrong swim class. Got us assessed and into the proper class!!
